    Yep
The OL put it on it.
And then drove it to Walley World.

My 5.0 liter 1984 F-150 still runs fine. Tranny got rebuilt last year for the first time. Motor about five years ago. Getting it out of the shop tomorrow because of worn out 30 year old ball joints and front brake discs & shoes. Stuff wears out, it's true, but Fords really are tough trucks. Good bones, as Mac the Wife says.

mileage between the two are pretty much the same. I wouldnt be buying the ecoboost cause its better on gas. That 2015 looks decent. I wonder how well it will hold up against road salt they are using tonnes of it here this year.

I'd hate to have a new vehicle & run it on the roads with salt
Salt will eat up about everything it touches

all you can do is wash them lots. We got a 2007 Mustang..saw snow once when I picked it up. We got a 2012 F150. been offroad in Utah with it..got smoked from behind going home from work last spring..tore it up pretty good and it gets the dirty drive to work..keeping them washed in winter is crucial. We can get 10 -15 years out of the body if you look after them. I really envy you southern guys for being able to keep a car looking good and still being able to drive them year around. The mustang will likely look nice to be given to someone else in good time. The F150 isn't so lucky..good truck though.

With the new aluminum body that salt problem won't be
as big a deal, still need to wash it off though.

I was going to trade mine in, maybe I should wait for mid year and
get a deal on a 14 when the 15 comes out...

Or get a classic pickup that has been totally restored, say, a 40s or 50s Ford or Chevy. Think of the money you'd save on insurance/taxes and be stylin' with true American iron, too!

New is not always better. I stick with old because no SSTs are needed for repairs, and I am cheap, (or poor, I always mix them up). That lighter truck should be much better on gas, and over its market that should make a real difference in the pocketbook. I am interested to see how these high strung ecoboost engines hold up to the average family that refuses to do regular maintenance. I suspect Joshbob's old Ford will outlast em in the long haul.

they tested the ecoboost for millions of miles and did some serious
hauling... Ford does have a good rep with reliability...

It does, thats why I've usually been riding in them since I could drive. But I am interested in maintenance costs with the ecoboost stuff after 100,000-150,000 miles of normal use and economy oil changes at luby tech shops. I buy used, and possible VVt, turbo, injector and timing chain costs due to neglect can come out of my pocket after warranty is expired.

Thing is the boost doesn't get the mileage value for the money
might as well get the v8 save the $ up front.. they still put
    v8's in them...

Well drove my mega power 07 Dodge 6.7 Cummings turbo diesel hauling heavy furniture today from home to Newport over steep MT passes and got 20 MPG. Not to bad for a big ars 3/4 ton four wheel drive. Let me see that puny exo boost keep up with me. :p Nice thing about it is I never even had put my foot into it, mega power

Yea, the salt they put down on the ice and snow will also eat aluminum. When steel is attacked by salt it turns brown or orange in color (rust).
When salt attacks aluminum the corrosion turns white and it pits. It's still corrosion and will eat through the aluminum.

Maybe powdercoating the underside of it will keep the corrosion at bay. But then, it probably costs more to do that.

Is someone suggesting the aluminum on the Ford won't be
painted or coated... Didn't read that anywhere

It's also not beer can aluminum, it's a military grade
aluminum, pretty sure FoMoCo has thought about
durability, longevity etc, it's not their first rodeo
since they sell the top pickup in the country again...

Ram may have gotten a pretty trophy two years in a row
but when you look at the numbers, nobody outsells
    the F150, nobody,

The larges percentage trucks you see here are Dodge Ram trucks.

Salt will and can eat through the paint as well so the aluminum ain't corrosion free. Ever see what a house wired in aluminum looks like, corrosion then bad electrical connections and grounds. They no longer wire houses with aluminum.
Ford is only doing this for one reason, fuel mileage and hope it works for them but don't think I want a coke can for my truck.

It's an aluminum body over 70,000 high tensile steel frame, everything below the body is super steel, the aluminum is the same aluminum used in the Bradley Fighting Vehicle, which lives through Afghanistan bombs and the sand of the Iraqi desert, cold of the Afhgan mountains 6000 Series Aluminum

I think it can keep up with Oregon road schmutz :D

Last year Ford sold 763,000 f150s

BTW the 3.5 ecoboost is rated at 365 Hp and 420 tq
runs on regular fuel, gets 25 mpg on the road, and with the 3.73 rear
ratio is rated at 16,900 pounds,

I think you'd have a hard time keeping up Fiat boy :woot:
