Well my bike came with a GPS and it is really nice. Never thought I would like one but I do. Don't use it all the time but sure was nice at times while in AZ.:)

Yep plug in BBQ, or Wings, lodging, etc ANother nice feature is time to destination, miles, compass, speed, I use the GPS for speed control on highways, you'd be surprised how far off your HD certified Speedo is. Mine was 6 mph low, changed it with the TTS to get it 2

If you have one with blooteef, you can select a hotel from the GPS, and it will call them
so you can make a reservation..

Also if you are running unfamiliar roads it helps to show where blind turns etc exist...

Rode for a long time without one, and really don't use it around town, just use it when going on a trip.

nope zumo 550, everyone that has one I know the keyboard screen is
    crap..

Don't care if it rains on cheap gps, I can buy 10 for the cost of one zumo
and your updates each year are $100, so I can buy two more each time and get
a free map update every time

Pretty much never surprised by rain, being on a bike I've learned to observe dark black clouds vs blue sky, just pop it off and in the pocket...

So for the price of a zumo and the upgrades I can get a new one every 3 to 4 months for 10 years...

yeah I like the zumo but, as a gps it's not much more
than any other Garmin. at $100 a unit I could buy 5
new garmins every other year with lifetime inlcuded
and of course all the benefits I'll get as features become
    standard with new releases.

GPS are like bic lighters anymore

The zumo is a fairly awesome piece of kit, but as everyone says they come at a price. Personally I am still undecided about GPS, but if I were to buy one, I'd get one designed for bikes. I'd splash the cash on a zumo.

I have worked with Cheap GPS units. I have worked with good gps units.
Right now we use a cheap one to git around up here in the country to find some places.

You get what you pay for.
If I couldn't get a good one I would just get Pissed Off.
The good ones do more and have better CPU in them.
Buy a slow computer and try using it. It gets flustrating.

    You can shop the internet.

The zumo 550 I got came with all the stuff to go in my truck and mount it on the windshield and you can hear it threw the speakers in the windshield mount.
YOu can use it in the new style radio's and hear it out the radio speakers.
    I don't have a vehicle that new.

And it came with the ram mount and everything for the bike.

If you git the same unit from Harley you do not get the truck kit with it.'
    You get cheated.
I bought mine on the internet. I've had it for about 6 yrs.

If I'm very far from the bike I take it off.
    I watch it very close.

If you want it just remember. I have a SHORT FUSE.
Ask yerself do you like to feel pain. :gah:

I have it on my 2nd bike now

I got a US Atlas. Cheap from Wallyworld. Maps tear out easy with a sharp knife. I only use em when I am really lost (aka: ADVENTURE) For me, riding down roads that I haven't been on and exploring is the ride. JMO I use a Garmin GPS from time to time in my cage. It gets me there but I have no idea how I got there and what I may have missed in the areas I went through. Example: One son and I drove his cage from Pittsburgh to Queen Creek,AZ. We used a garmin. The drive was day and night. The final couple hundred miles were at night. After we got to his new house, I looked on a map and found that we drove through and along the Salt River Canyon and we missed a beautiful drive. The Garmin didn't show us that and in the dark of the night, we had no clue! JMO

Don't have a Zumo and can see why one made to have out in elements would be a good deal. But, if you don't have $600+ to spend, you don't have to be out. I have an old Garmin Nuvi, have had a while, wide screen model gives street names by voice for turns. Bought lifetime upgrade years ago for $65 on sale at Amazon I think, have upgraded it a number of times. Never had a problem, never got a bad direction, boots quick, dont think it would like the rain though. But as a less expensive deal, really hard to beat. Garmin just plain has good maps... JMO ;)

You got to stop to use it, and you got to write down and remember road names
I have been a service man on the road for over 40 yrs. I have used key maps, street maps and road atlas. And I have used GPS for over 10 yrs.
I used one to run a lOcksmith business in Houston and around to outlying areas.
You can talk maps. I will use one for backup but I will not drive and stop and look at em
I have the same map on my Iphone.

You have the money for whatever you want.
You are riding a Harley ain't you.

I have a Garmin Nuvi 350 I took out of my work truck and gave my wife.
She screamed till she learned how to use it.
    Now she loves it.

My buddy down the street got a Tom Tom cause he got a good price on it.
It has broke down on him and he has had to buy new parts for it that is hard to get.
He said why didn't I get a good garmin. He's works at Ft Hood.:gah:

I have the zumo, it's nice
nothing wrong with it other than the keyboard

Having said that an inexpensive garmin isn't a cheap
GPS has all the benefits and features of a zumo

It just doesn't come with the inflated motorcycle label

Motorcycle lable is waterproof and more shock proof than the ones made for the car.

The one from Harley is motorcycle only.

When I can go to wally world and buy a Garmin gps for 100.00 Plus dollars it has a heck of a slow processor in it.
    Takes forever to boot up.
And it don't have as many options and operate as easy as the better ones

And the budget changes with Priorities........:D

I'm on a Budget too. I give up things to get other things.
Try to go out and get a few odd jobs to bring in some spare change instead of sittin around doing nothin.
Then again I don't have no fancy house and fancy car. I live in a shack and got toys.......
