Sounds like you had a good time. Good to spend time with your son bet it meant as much to him to.
To bad the bike rides so hard and is designed the way it is. Engine sounds like a winner though. Sometimes my Springer jars me around a bit but the seat is wide and comfy.

Awsome FB! Looking foirward to riding with my son someday, hopefully next year. I was able to ride many a mile with my father and enjoyed every mile. Kind of a cool think, family tradition and all.

Enjoyed your take on the Victory. Have a friend that just bought a Vision. Ugly bike. Too many of my friends don't by harleys because of the incessant stereo types. I have to say I can't blame them although its a pretty stupid reason not to buy one?

And why now older the softails don't apeal to me. They have more give then a rigid but not as good as say an Ultra's air ride. Great looking bikes. I've always liked the Springer too.

Widsh they had softails when I was in my 20's. Would have been the perfect ride. Built a rigid instead

BD, I've always had a fondness for the Harley Springer but no don't want to do a 500 mile trip on one anymore. Rode from my place to Reno one year on one but was a few years younger, 650 miles. Dang near froze my tail off leaving at 5 AM the day after the rally was over. 18F out and no heated gear, I installed heated grips on that bike that winter.
Still enjoy my Springer and just finished building the motor up to just a 95 inch with cams. She's got enough power to scare me now with the lighter frame. Gets a little squirrly if you get on it good, but will haul.
I'm not a fan of the Vision either never liked the looks of the back end especially. Don't know how they ride but heard tell from guys that they ride nice.

Ha and he's complaining about it being too hard........

Good looking bike, probably made for the younger hot rod crowd

They have an old mans bike too, that's what you need, the 106 is a pretty
    good engine.

Might be a bit futuristic for you

I really dislike the Art Deco looks of that bike. I'm more of a traditionalist. To me the look of the Road King with fiberglass bags. Or even the Ultra Classic.

I have never liked the Arlen Ness look. I to am more of a traditionalist. They keep trying to push that look on the Polaris bikes and don't understand why. They really just need their own look one that does not resemble a space ship would really be nice.

    y'all is narrow minded LOL

It's not Japanese, it's USA so that's a plus, I'd take in order

    1) HD
    2) Indian
    3) Victory

Thing is I love my RG, have had two, now every swinging stick
is getting on them, what was once bastardized and unique (just like me)
is everywhere, first choppers, then bobbers, then clown wheel baggfaggers
    now Are Gee...

I need to buy a Japanese bike to be an individual rebel LOL

Indian is pretty shiney, like a show off bike, I like the flat black
victory, I know I'll get shit, it runs like stink, made in USA and causes
    yuppies to curl up noses.

    The perfect bike

I'm sorry but I would have to include the Triumph if your going to consider a Japanese bike. The new Triumphs are pretty nice and you can get that color you want HRK. They are not only nice but fast and loads of power.

Traditional guy here too. I'm just kinda getting over them making the Electraglides front wheel a 17" from a 16" I really don't know what the advantage of that is. I think a 6 gallong tank is understandable and has been quite an assett. 6 speeds? Thought 5 was enough. EFI versus Carb another tough one. Both have advantages.

The six speed was long over due to me I love it. I wished my Springer had a six speed in it at many times but not spending the bucks on it to put one in.

As for fuel injection was another item that was needed. Lots of old school guys still out there that don't like the new changes but some progress was really needed. Hey gotta keep up with the technology especially if your competition is going to pass you by.

Likewise and why convert a good running carb bike over to fuel injection or VIS versa. My 99 Triumph Trophy is a carb bike and runs really great but would sure hate to have to deal with four leaking carbs to get it running right. Gotta friend dealing with that now.

Ya still got a rotary phone in your house?
How about TV, ya still watching the B&W Panasonic?
    LOL

Some of it has to do with EPA compliance on noise and emissions, such as EFI, chain drive cams, different cut gears in the trans for less noise.

Look at it this way, if there is a max db for the bike, the quieter you make the engine and trans the louder you can make the pipes.
