We had a chapter ride today, yep downpour rain. Still a great ride and had 25 bikes on the ride. Was talking to several guys about GPS and one had a interesting comment. He said the one thing that he does not like about a GPS is it does not tell you if the road your heading for is gravel.

We had a National HOG guy at our ride today. JT, he is the National Rep from Milw for our region and he likes the GPS from Harley because it will show you the Harley shops where your at if you need one and how to get there.

Got mixed feelings on the GPS thing. I'm anal about maps, gotta have 'em. My wife gave me a GPS for my birthday. We used it around town to find places, some addresses it couldn't find. I haven't hooked it up to the bike yet. I'll carry it along on a big trip and see what it does. I won't be fiddling with it while I'm riding though. I think they can be a good tool used properly.

    Garmin !!!

If you check Garmin is the only folks that have their own satellites in the sky.
The have the best GPS units and fish finders on the market.

What they see with satellites, it the contour of the bottom of the lakes ETc.
If they can track fish I would not know about it. I used to bass fish and used a depth finder to see how deep of water I was in and what was on the bottom, I didn't use it to look at nothin but bait fish and their movement.
I used the Garmin GPS when I was riding at nite and to locate underwater humps and roadbeds and bridges.
If you go to a new lake and make several turns and go into a lot of creeks you can use the GPS to git you back to where you come from.

Also Don't understand how GPS can tell you what kind of fish that are in the water that you are fishing for.

Now I fresh water fish. But the lakes here can be several miles across. You can't even see the creeks on the other side.
Got 2 buddy's that are salt water guides and 1 that used to be a captain on a ship. Were in a whole different world there.

I thought maybe they tagged the fish with a transponder to keep an eye on them and know where they went.

That way they could sell more fish finders....
