So why not carry a single shot then, you don't need more than one shot right.

If you need more than one shot to hit your target then you need more practice. I shoot 1-2 times a week. Here is my last target with my Sig 40 offhand and the distance is 50 feet. Even put the last shot right between the eyes.

Police here and sheriff say they shoot Big dudes that are high 3-4 times with a 9mm and they keep running and shooting back at them.

    I carry my Xdm 3.8 compact 45.
Don't make a difference where I hit you, you are going down.
Period, and you will bleed out a lot faster.

Better keep up with the practice, don't want to miss and make em mad.

My Nephew is a E-8 Green Beret done many tours in Iraq andAfghanistan and he carries a Glock 9mm with 19 rounds. He said he has taken many of those dudes out with the 9mm and his specialty is weapons. Says he wants the most ammo in a carry pistol he can have. He is not taking out one at a time either. So a 9mm in his opinion is no toy.

Never had a problem with pointing and shooting.
My dads best friend was a Gunsmith. Used to go with him in his old Willis jeep and go down in the woods behind the house a few miles where people illegally dumped stuff and shoot guns all the time.

When I got my 1st permit in Texas. I was taking the CHL course under a Sherieff
He asked how long has it been since you shot your pistol. Said let me see. I shot my AR15 about 7-8 yrs ago when I took the OL to the range.
So its been that long. So he replied I will give everybody 50 rounds to practise with.
When he said shoot. I shot without aiming
    Pointed and rapid fired.
When I got threw he said on 5 round burst you have like 10 seconds not 4 seconds
I nearly got the word out of my mouth.
Told somebody to go and get my paper and grade it.
I said wait. That was my practise round.
    He said you are threw.
the girl grading my paper said he got 246 out of 250 points.
    That's your score.
    I said but I think I can shoot 250.
He replied if you shoot a 250, I will automatically fail you.
And you will have to pay and take the course again.

So you carrying the AR with you. Better practice with your pistols. One thing that XD 3.8 shoots very well just don't like it for concealed carry.
