Don't forget the oil that is used to actually oil the filter itself to restrict debris from getting into the engine. (Washable). I get caught in several down pours, it can't help. Lol

Yes, the breather tubes come from the head and into the carb. Standard venting.

Not sure exactly what you were trying to say.

I have rode in many rain storms myself and will usually put the SE air cleaner sock over my SE air cleaner when in the rain, it does help.
I also use the K&N air filter as it can be removed and cleaned. I'm sure you know all about that. However I clean mine once a year.

I've ran the new Dunlops, And the new elites.
They just don't ride like the Michelin or Pirellis do.

Trust me Johnny can ride fast in the twisties, he kept up to me on his Pirelli tires but I was on American Elites and I love them. Buy whatever you like but I like the performance and mileage I get out of the AE's. They handle the weight great for 2-up touring, and they are fine in the rain.JMO

I am just saying that the rain sock that I use is worthless. I use a K&N washable filter as well but it gets water logged often which causes the oil that it uses to filter dust and other stuff to go through my carb. The I am sure contributed to such a dirty carb.

I have never had a drippy air filter from engine oil, but I have had a drippy air filter from over oiling the air filter. ;)

Not supposed to soak it in the K&N oil for their air cleaner. ;)

Never said he couldn't ride in the corners but know it's much harder while riding two up or using Apes.

Have the carb all back together and a new MAP Sensor. Today I will be out shooting with a buddy and others so won't get much done today. Just need to install the carb, hook up the cables and change plugs. I bought a new SE air filter but it will not work with the backing plate that I have so I have the correct one on the way.

Oh, I forgot to mention, I tried a suggestion that I got from HTT I believe and it worked very well. When putting the slide back in, it was suggested to use some Vaseline or something like it to keep the diaphragm in place for when you put the cover on. This is to keep you from damaging the diaphragm. THIS WORKS! I just used a qtip and put a little in the recess. Definitely the way to do it.;)

Don't use KY Jelly it's too slippery and your rubber will keep flopping out...

I got to get the bike out for a ride and I fixed the bad mileage issue. However, in about 500 miles, I am down a quart of oil. I am not impressed. There aren't any real distinct ridability issues but it still feels like it is lagging. It reminds me of when my dumbass put 60 weight oil in my bike. I remember when that happened I thought of dumping right away. Well, I will be pulling the case plug to see if there is more than what there should be. If there is, there is no question what it is then need to do.;)

I am going to wait with this until I get an opportunity to see if it's wet sumping. If it's wet sumping there are other things that I need to worry about and most like won't fix.
