Retrop that was what I was thinking when he showed me the 75/140 which is why I repeated the weight back to him in a quizical fashion. Anyhow he told me that there wasn't that much difference between the viscosity of the 20/50 synthetic engine oil and the 75/140 High Pressure tranny oil. It's rated differently due to the different use whichis the point that one of the guys made earlier on this thread. Even though viscosities change with temp use (as they're designed to do), I gave the bottle a "theraputic" shake and sure 'nuf, there wan't any difference in the sound of the "slosh" inside the bottle - realizing that that's not the most sciientific way to judge lubricants. Anyhow he said the folks were liking the 75/140 lots better than the 75/90. Trannys shifted smoother and were quieter. This guy has worked on other bikes for me plus has several years of experience behind his belt. He's worked on everything and truth be know, he's probably got a couple of old Cushman's running around. Anyhow, as was (wisely) said earlier, these are opinions based on exerience. So we take those opinions and experiences and build our own - so that we can pass them on to others (and have them equally as confused - LOL).

All kidding aside, I really enjoy the exhange of ideas on this forum. I can be stressed from a day in healthcare, log on start reading and typing and the stress leaves and this is really important since the weather is too bad to ride.

    or Chuclene.

Well, it's frickin' co-oooold here now. I ride regardless of temperature, but when there's ice around, forget it. Recently, a friend, (experienced rider) was going down a hill and hit some black ice and was down in a split second. Afterwards, he figured out that only moments before, some ignorant guy from a corner grocery store dumped a bucket of water into the street, which instantly froze. He was too caught up with a leg injury and the bike going down to go over and deal with the as#*ole.

I think I'll probably wait out the winter and change oils in late Feb/early March, unless there's a little warm spell. That gives me more time to figure out my oil choice. After all this, I'll probably stay with Redline. Thing is, my clutch slips just a little, so little that experienced riders don't notice it, but I do because it happened after switching to syn in the primary. One HD service mgr. mentioned he's heard of this with synthetics, and I don't known if I believe it or not. That's another reason why I thought about switching to Amsoil, just on the off chance it was any different than Redline, but I doubt it now. Time to stop spinning my wheels over this, thanks guys.

Take it to a Indy Shop or whereever while its cold.
Have em to check yer clutch out. you might even have the clutch plates cleaned or replaced man.
And when you deceide on a Oil either Dino or synthetic oil, stick with it.
It don't have to be the best Oil.
But on yer clutch area, put HD Formula One in there dude.
