I have actually had a chance to talk to few people who have purchased the HD LED HeadLamp. I think that I am going to buy one. The cool thing about them is that they are a plug and play and no need for the extra thing as it has all been integrated.. Not cheap though....

When I bought the HD Screamin EAgle dual bulb headlight kit that gives you two bulbs.

#67700022 is the headlight kit number from HD
And the Xenon HID headlight kit. It was plug and play. Cost less than Harleys setup and puts out more light and draws less juice from the battery.

Got two h-9 bulbs on 35watt at 6000k. I'm in the edge of blue.
Buddy has a SE SG and did the Xenon HID plug and play on his bike.
now hes thinkin about going to 8000 l on the high beam

There's a lot of companies out there that sells them now. IN a single bulb you have to go to a Bixenon.

I've had both. Don't like Bixenon nowhere as much as I do dual bulb xenon.

JMHO so here is my 2 cents worth. The two things I consider is that oncoming traffic can see me, but most importantly, I can see whats coming at me in the road. One of the most important aspects of lighting that in many cases is not considered, is the design of the reflector housing the bulb is in. You can have the brightest bulb in the world, but if the reflector disperses the light in a wide short pattern, oncoming traffic will see you, but you won't see very far ahead of you. Example of this would be the difference between a spot light and a flood light.

A spot light projects a concentrated beam a farther distance where a flood light projects in a very wide pattern, but for a short distance. I've riden bikes that had super bright bulbs but the reflector housing didn't project the light very far down the road. Won't mention the company, but a couple years ago I changed out the stock headlight in my 02' Heritage for a super bright headlight assembly. The light was extremely bright, unfortunately the design of the reflector didn't project the beam very far ahead. The stock 55/60 watt Halogen sealed beam headlight wasn't as bright, but when properly aligned projects a beam of light that is two lanes wide for 200 feet down the road.

So for me it's not just how much I can see, but how far ahead of me I can see it. At 60 mph you are moving ahead at 88 feet per second. On a dark road at night you only have 2.27 seconds to identify and avoid an object in the road that is 200 feet ahead of you. As far as LED's, they are very bright and I think they are great for brake lights and turn signals, but I think the effective illumination of them over a given distance is less than that of a Halogen bulb. And again this is determined by reflector design. And last is proper alignment. It's amazing how many bikes I see on the road with improperly aligned headlights. No matter what type of light you have, if it's not aligned correctly, you might as well not have one.

Sorry for the long dissertation, but home alone today with no one to talk to but the dog, and he doesn't seem to be interested in what I have to say.

No problem Ringo!!!:D If what you are saying is true, than an LED is probably the better light for me in the aspect of its width. I need a light that shines a little more into the ditches, a lot deer around here. Also, if, like you said the headlight is adjusted properly, it doesn't matter which you have.... I do like the LED's that is for sue..

JB, do you have the passing lamps on your bike. They really help in seeing in those side areas, like ditches and sides of the road.

They killed a 16' and a 13' in just Brushy creek 2 yrs ago.
Over 30 dogs came up missing.

People have a fence between the water and their land to keep the gators from crawling up in their yard in Brushy creek area.
    Gators are protected too.
You are the intruder. They are in their natural habitat.

When its not cold outside, I'm always in the water.
Try to carry a gun when I let my Lab go in. They will come to him fast.
If I see a gator around the house I will shoot him and he's protected.
Done got into it with the game warden too. He got mad then asked what did I want him to do.
Keep the gators away from my house and my wife.
I don't care about no gator. My dog has champion bloodline he cost 2000.00
Do you think a gator over rates my dog and wife.
