Ran Valvoline race Oil in my cars back in the 60's when I used to drag race.
Machine shop back home my dad got all his engine work done at sold it.
Gave me a good price on it.
Ran a 67 CAmaro 100,000 on it and was at the drag track all the time and loved to street race. Changed the oil ever 2500 miles. Points and condenser and plugs.

Had my 1st wife to keep crying you love your car more than me. She cried about it till I sold it to a buddy of mine that worked at a service station. Knew the dude that owned the station.
The owner of the station said my buddy wanted to tear the 350 motor down and rebuild it.
Said they tore it down and it was the cleanest motor he's ever seen in his life. And he had done engine work for years.
Miked it and it has less than a thousands wear. Unbelievable.
Said they redid the heads with new seats and all. Honed the cylinders.
Got some new rings and main bearing and cam bearing and put her back together.
When walley world didn't have mobile one they had Valvoline synthetic 20-50 Oil.
I ran it in my last bike.

yep cb im open to alot of things when it comes to lube . but that oil for as long as i have been building motors . has been the best . and when oil temp stays low it means friction is down . and we have to run are motors a tad on the rich side so that means more un burnt fuel at idle i want an oil that will protect my bikes motor . and it does it very well.i have run that very same oil in an alky motor and we have to change the oil every two passes . the bearings look great when we went to freshen that motor as well . its done me real well .

Like the syn 3 oil. It runs good in my bike. Got a lot of friends that have run it and not had a problem.

Man I have ran motorcycles all my life. Would ride my bike all year long and change it one time a year. Ran dino oil. Dino oil back then is not as good as the oil today.
Never had a Oil related problem.
Now I run a synthetic oil. and cause its not Redline or Amsoil it ain't any good.
Got a buddy that has a 99 Ultra. He has never ran nothin but plain Castrol car oil in it. Never had a problem.
You do not have to have the very best oil that money can buy to run in yer bike unless you want a race motor.

Chucktx runs Drag specialites dino oil in his bike.

H-D puts out it's oil label for spec and bids to all oil refiners every 5 years. The maker of H-D oils does change ever so often.

I used to run Valvoline (dino) in every motor I had and was satisfied. After seeing that the U.S. military specifies Mobile 1 (syn) in all it's motor vehicles due to extreme conditions, I switched. If a truck motor can survive -100f. in Antarctica, and the same motor goes to +130f. in Sudan, African desert-- that's the oil I want. And I don't buy the expensive V-Twin oil, just the regular 20-50 jugs from Wal-Mart. My Harley doesn't burn a drop in 3,000 miles.

I really like Mobile 1 Syn but do run their V-twin syn oil. On my trip last last summer the temps were over a 100 many days in a row. We ran 8,000 miles and I did not change the oil until I got home.

Alex, thats why I like the Mobile one V-twin syn oil. The oil was not black even after 8,000 miles. Yea know, this 3,000 oil change thing was started by Jiffy lube so people would change their oil more often. I change the oil in my bike about every 4,000 miles.

Errr I beg to differ with ya on the 3k oil changes. That was the standard practice as far as I remember to the early 60s for autos. No jiffy back then. Only gas stations then.

I don't tink so Fatboy. Look at the car manufacture recommendations for when to change your oil. Look at your bike manual for how often to change the oil. The 3,000 mile oil ochange was and is pushed by Jiffy lube and those like em. My wifes 2010 Ford Taurus says 7500 miles. My Harley says 6000 miles running their syn3 oil and syn3 is not a full SYN oil, it's a blend. Mobile1 V-twin SYN is a full SYN oil. It did not hurt the motor one bit with that Mobile1 V-Twin in it. Sure it was longer than what I like to run before changing it, but the motor was just fine.
I also did not loose any oil either and that says a lot for the Harley motor.
