I would have to agree with my buddy Cowboy, especially in the computer era, all of that should be an electronic search. Should take only a couple of minutes to find. Do you remember the year of the issue that you are looking for??

Unfortunately not, it could be 6 years, maybe 7 years ago. I just don't remember. I posted some info from the article in the hope that someone might remember the article and might have saved that mag. So far no copy.

I searched the database allready, but the particular article is not in it. I wrote two requests and asked them to publish the article again in the database. Up today no answer.

You may want to ask the editor to see if he/she can direct you to the article.... or even one of the journalists? Just a thought....

I did, contacted Hot Bike twice, the back-issue company twice, the people who are responsible for the technical article department etc.

It seems as if HB is not interested in helping their customers. I've been posting on a lot of forums and putting my money now on a reader who remembers the article and might have saved the mag in his attic. I'll pay even for a copy of the article.

I remember the project, can't remember which rag for sure.

Seems to me you have several things you'll have to do
the basics for wires, lights etc are all there, lot of re-routing wires
changing connectors, and removing some wires.

Electrical will be the biggest part of the job...

Remove all faring, lights, windshield gauges, etc
get it down to the triple trees and wires.

YOu'll need a new Dash from an RK with Speedo and you'll
have to route the wires from the old speedo to the new(dash)

As far as electronics all you need to do is get an FL Service manual for your year, it will show you the wires that you can get rid of (oil, air temp, etc)

Fuel sender wires will have to be run under tank

You'll need an RK tank as the Speedo replaces the center door on the FL and you need the fuel gauge on the RK tank as the faring is gone, you'll want to remove all radio harness wires.

Then you'll add back on the RK nacelle headlight assembly, turn signals and fog lights and bar

You could leave the controls and just use the wires you need or change out the housings and switches and wires.... Cost wise I'd just leave the FLH wires and connect the ones you use horn, start, run, turn..

However, I think when you get done you'll find that you could have sold the bagger with fairing and bought a new RK (Used or new) for less money and effort.

I posted the question on Yahoo and there was a Harley rider who remembered the article and was so kind to scan it and mail it to me.
