If you open carry and somebody comes in to rob a store and sees you have a pistol guess what. You are the 1st person shot.

And I tried a shoulder holster when I was younger. They get old very , very fast.

And the heavier the weapon, the older it gets to carry it.
Before you realize it you left home without it.
So its of really no benefit to you. Might as well not even of bought it . You can lean a shotgun against the wall at the house in the bedroom.

That's why I like pocket carry but found I need to wear suspenders to hold the pants up or in the winter a jacket where I can put a pistol in the inside pocket.

Like Cardboard open carry just invites to many problems.

Who prefers to have their shirt buttoned up when they wear their weapon on the hip, I am asking for how you draw your weapon in that scenario?

Lift with opposite, or, lift with thumb over gun and draw.

Do you prefer to have your shirt unbuttoned and swipe or buttoned and lift?

Johnny just find the way that suits you and use it. If after awhile you find it not working then change to a different alternative. The only way for you to find the best way is just try several.

Just got back from the range from shooting my Colt New Agent. Here is a picture of my target. Better than when I started. Oh and this from about 7 yards. uploadfromtaptalk1428267087224.jpg
The rounds that are low and to the left were fired with both eyes open looking down the trench. The bullseye is with my left eye closed as well as are the others. The one way off to the right was an oopps.

    Maybe while you are young.
You need to go buy a single action revolver and a cowboy Holster.
See if there are any people in your area that cowboy shoots.
Drawing a pistol from a holster and cocks the hammer and pulls the trigger.
After doing this for a while. Many things will run threw your mind.
You will be the last person to ever ask again.
    How do you draw.
Do you put your thumb on the safety when its drawn.
Is your finger on or near the trigger.

This might be one of the funnest things you have ever did if you learn how to do it.
If you ever see somebody open carry like this.
Do not under any circumstances think you can draw against them.
    Cause you can't.
And this will open up a whole new world to you.

However you carry your pistol. You are gonna have to DRAW it.
weather its out of a OSB ,IWB on your hip, In your pocket.
Strapped to your ankle. Shoulder holster, Fannie pack or whatever.
If you plan on drawing your weapon, you will have to draw it.

This place is up the road from me about 90 miles. Maybe less.
The picture of my Harley with the Service Station in the background is from there.

I did this kind of drawing when I was a Kid and my Dad had a Cowboy Holster and a single action pistol.
Used to strap it on and go down the firelane to the dump.
Sit up bottles and cans and draw it and **** the hammer and shoot it.
When I was a Kid, I got pretty good at this.
Today I don't remember much. But I can draw a pistol.
And when you ask questions like drawing a pistol. How do you draw.
I posted this because it will teach you more than you could ever learn.
And after doing it for a while. YOu will never again ask the question.
    How do you draw.
Go to the Basics where it all started. And go back to a single action revolver.
There are people today, that can draw, **** their pistol and shoot you and put the weapon back in the holster before you can get your hand on your pistol.
Some of them carry like this under a suit coat.

You should shoot with both eyes open. Your group needs to be tightened up a bit. Keep practicing and your group will tighten up. Your grip and stance can make a big difference. Sometimes a class helping with proper sight technique, grip technique and stance really helps. Many times at your range they may offer instructors or classes.
That groove down the barrel on your pistol I don't think is much good for distances any farther out sp practice 5-7 yards.

    Let me see.
My right eye was done for far off. My left eye was done for up close.
    Open both eyes and look.
Won't be able to see the groove he has down the barrel.
    Give me fiber optics Please.

I just put another 150 rounds through the Colt. As of now I have about 325 that have cycled through the barrel. Addicting.

Cool last week I went out and shot my Sig 1911 Ultra Compact, 9mm Shield and my Springfield XDS 45 4 inch. The XDS is shooting to the left even after benching it so moved the sights when I got back
Johnny it is addicting but fun. I fired about 150 rounds and it seems like it went by really fast.

But today I went for a 200 mile ride, oh did that feel good to.

For over the winter I am contemplating on reloading my own ammo. Something to pass the winter months.
