    Re: Q

Mine says the same thing for my 02' TC 88. The 82 TQ is at the crank, not the rear wheel. Reduce the 82 TQ by about 15% due to mechanical pumping losses from the drive train, ie: primary, trans and secondary drive. You will end up at about 70 TQ at the rear wheel.

    Re: Q

Yes, but Alex never made the claim that those numbers were at the wheel either... But if you look at that screen shot a little closer as I just did, those numbers are almost identicle to what Alex was talking about. The horse power is a little higer but his torque spec is almost right on...:D

    Re: Q

What they don't tell you in the SM is that 82 ft/lbs @3500 is at the crank.

The screen shot is from Nightriders website but a dyno sheet is a dyno sheet; I can post more if you are still confused.

Here's another one that might confuse you more; this from the SE 2012 Performance catalog. The chart shows a stock 96" compared to Stage I 96"; note that the data is measured at the rear wheel. A stock 96" makes about 68HP/82TQ; so how do you figure a stock 88"er will make the same torque as a stock 96"er? Maybe it won't. :roflmao: Oh yeah, forgot to metion that the SE catalog was downloaded from the internet.

You have to know where the dyno power is measured, the 88's didn't put out the numbers
HD want at the rear so you advertise crank, problem is then when you sell SE parts the gains are not there because dynos are at the rear wheel.

You loose power moving all the parts in the primary, trans, belt, and rear wheel.

I have a secret to making more power for JB, its free, and is guaranteed 3- 5 RWH on every bike every time. All you have to do is ad about 5 to 8 pounds of air to the rear tire, and every time the dyno will read higher, in fact, if you want even more power
be sure to find a shop with a happy dyno, older with the older software, turn off some of the weather equipment, air up the rear tire and take your chart to the bike night for
    some bench racing... LOL

    Re: Q

Alex cited those figures as STOCK torque and horsepower ratings which were measured at the crank. The Nightrider figures are Stage I figures measured at the rear wheel.

The core question is how much TQ/HP can one expect to gain from a Stage I upgrade. 15%-20% is an unrealistic expectation; 10% is achievable, on average, more is possible with the right fuel management system and spot on tune.

    how ya gonna learn...

Actually it's wise to know the tricks
for the happy dyno operator, otherwise
you can get taken just like at a
carnival.. step right up boy pull up that bike,
a wave of the majic tuning wand and you'll get
10 hp I tell ya, 10 hp guaranteed....

who cares its just a tool . hp is just the caluculated value of the torque produced . thats why when you air up the tire the eddy brake becomes happy . loosen up the coil pick up lead ground and watch the torque numbers jump up as well ! saw 117 on the 98 and said well thats bull **** ! sure did have me shaking my head to what the hell did i do to this software . lol . its a great tunning tool thats all period dont chase numbers . look for the forks jerking up off the ground and a nice air fuel ratio !

Had somebody to Build my 07 WG, they asked all kinds of questions on what I wanted. I told them I wanted a fast bike but wanted some dependability left in.
    The builder built race bikes.
They said if I wasn't chasing numbers they would build one like that.
Said they will build a bike that was very fast from Point A to Point B
And the bike they built was that dang fast.
The fastest I ever got it was 143 on a GPS with the spokes wheels on the bike and I chickened out.
The bike would do 108 in 3rd gear without hittin the rev limiter which was set at 6100.
I did 130 in 4th gear and hadn't hit the rev limiter.
The bike was all I could ask for. Rode it for a year and traded it in on a new bike.
The bike lasted a week on the Harley lot.

What toque you have the horsepower is just in you grasp. You must open the mind and feel the torque. Use the torque jb use the torque.
