You have a point or two there. I found the whole Harley thing very confusing. With the caste system amongst riders when I first got one I had to take a long time to realize that I wasn't an Untouchable in India whenever I got on my bike. I didn't get a Harley to be cool, I got a Harley because my insurance company and many others wouldn't insure my sportbike. The bikes were competent/simple/non threatening. They're any easy bike to ride. The whole biking riders looking out for one another is sadly becoming a thing of the past. I had a trailer problem in a construction area in Montana this summer. I was in dug up dirt road with a trailer that hooked a leg stand an I'm trying to put the thing together back on the side of the road [actually the side of the road was a dirt furrow and a pile of bikes on the way to Sturgis motored past my wife and I without so much of a second glance. I didn't really need the help anyway but that's not the point. Have I passed someone on the side of the road? Yes. Have I passed someone alone on the side of the road with the bags off the bike and he's working on it? Not very often ...especially out in the middle of nowhere. So from a different perspective I'm not fond of what I'm seeing either.

oops didn't mean to derail the thread any further. I'm not sure I like the Honda

At least I'm not the only one seeing it. It sucks and it aint right but thats what happened once HD became your average household variety status symbol instead of a way of life it once was.:)

life style..depends on which kind you mean. I ride for the enjoyment of riding. I to like Harley for the simplicity its own style but don't want to look cool or treating, not interested in that kind of attitude. I started riding bikes as a kid and was riding illegally on the road at 14 and its been a part of my life sense. I road the 1500 Goldwing and put 107,000 miles on it but was turned off to the average Goldwinger attitude. Found the camaraderie of other Harley riders to fit better and more to my liking.

I really do not care what anyone rides...Just have fun...Does it really matter? Hell, Goldwings with 120+ hp will leave the majority of HD's in the dust as will a KT 1200...I have had various makes and liked everyone of the...However, my HD is the only bike I have had to add a lot of stuff to in order to make it a more streetable bike...Did not have to do that with any of my other bikes...They came with good brakes, HP and the other things I needed...JMHO...

Life style...everything about your life evolved around your motorcycle...even your Christmas card photo, lol. All your friends rode so there was no misunderstanding what everyone did in there free time. Matter of fact your friends were your fellow club members and more like family. Vacations were motorcycle related. Kids too. They just followed in the car till we got to the destination. Wardrob was standard black t shirt and jeans, maybe a primary chain for a belt.

Despite my commitment to motorcycles and still to this day it didn't rub off on any of my 3 kids. They couldn't be bothered.:)

Me neither because they have to represent their choice not me. Prefer to see someone on a Suzuki v strom because they liked it then a poser on a HD.:D

And the irony in all this is there are guys who would have never owned a Harley want to but don't because of their perception of todays typical HD rider they won't buy one, lol.:) I don't get all of this.

A co worker has always wanted a HD crossbones and for years and years but every couple years he either buys a BMW,URAL,Suzuki when all the while really wanting the Crossbones:roflmao:. He won't purchase it because he doesn't want to be associated to his perception of HD riders? His loss he just don't know it.

We humans, including me, are some funny ducks, lol.

And that new Honda looks cool, sorta like a sport tourer if your into those. She probably rolls right fast out of the gate. A stripped GW. All the motor muscle and none of the carbon fiber, boxes or bag weight.

Shoot HRK, that's the way Maddog and I ride out here all the time. Takes a skilled rider to take a big bike through the corners like that.:D:D

That's looking a little intense for me. Do wings have integrated brakes? I've been quick at times but I wasn't on the brakes that deep into the corner..not on the harley anyway. he's got a nice soft set of hands..that's asking a lot of a front tire. I'd be a little slower going in get that braking out of the way before I lay it over then roll into the throttle.
