3 ton 15 seer. He said if the present copper tubing I have is o.k. they can use it.
Copper tubing he said is 9.00 a foot. My house to the roof is like 15' high from the air conditioning unit.
One of the copper tubing lines looks 3/8's the other looks to be 3/4

He said if its right they can check and clean it. And pull a vaccum and check it then too.

What do you know about that.

If he checks the lines for leaks and they don't leak should be ok, just make sure he flushes with r11 line flush or similar product, new refrigerants not compatible with old mineral oils..need to make sure no risidual oil left in lines. Don't see many Bryants in my area, don't even know a dealer..when I first started working a/c units in mid 70s worked on some. Around here new installs run around 2000 to 2500 per ton, thats duct, copper lines, and all. I would definitely get more than one estimate..they should be free. If u have any questions just ask CB, been doing this stuff for 35 years, not much I haven't seen, will try to help if I can.

Up here in my country the Bryant's seem to be the cheaper ones. I know they do have higher quality units. Question for you guys, why do you put them on the roof? Because you guys don't have crawl spaces? We have crawl spaces and all the lines get run under the house. Furnaces here are almost always put in the garage. Interesting to here what and how other parts of the country do.

My newer electric furnace and our heat pump are American Standard. Cost for the furnace, heat pump and piping was 6,000 installed.
Good idea while while your doing all this is have your ducts cleaned.:D

In Houston some of the folks put em on the roof is cause somebody steals them every day.
They try to slow down loosing them. Even building cages around them don't help

Ours here in the country are on a platform a little off the ground.
Had a neighbor give me a dudes phone number from across the creek in another subdivision.
He sells American Standard. He's suppost to call in the mornin and give me a price.
He was trying to sell me a Coleman. I said No.
He said he would be everybodys else prices.
But didn't like using the old copper tubing with the new freon 410A.

i would not use the old copper stuff.....the newer freon uses a lot higher pressures......old stuff may only last a month or so before letting loose..............

Yep that is a good advice
you don't want to run the new
    refrigerants with old copper.

Again you were told in the beginning
and several times. 90% of the failures
is the install. The guy that wants to
re-use the copper is trying to cut the
cost off the bid and make more net.

    Find another..

Bryant is Carriers lower cost line
but they are made by Carrier, uses
the same internals, only difference is the badge

You get Carrier quality and lower cost

Haven't had but one issue on
my bryant and it was a capacitor
that gave out after 4 years.

Remember we run the units about 365
    a year on AC here.

I hate Bryant gas furnaces with those crappy front doors on em, pain in the ars to take off and put back on, especially when it's hanging sidways from the garage ceiling.

Heat pump is the way to go,I do know about the trane,it sounds like one LOUD.i just replaced my 20 year old York ,very good unit.i got a 4ton American standard ,2000s.q.ft house total ele. Bill 80.00 a mo. Heat side 68, cool side 72,I have an oil back up furn. Heat pumps don't work well below 39, they work to hard at that temp.get a bigger pump than you need, rating # higher than 18.and we only get a little snow in the vally here in Oregon .there are times we can't get out of the vally good luck oh yea $5,000.

Trane is made by American Standard..side by side couldn't tell the difference except the sticker on top..even model number the same. They are good units and heat pumps work great down here in the south, but your right about them not operating efficiently when temp s in the 30s or less.

Well its like this, everybody is changin what they said.
My neighbor behind me called his buddy who has a business 30 miles away.
He does all the Auto Nations in the counties around us.
He carried both American Standardand Ruud.
He said in all the counties he has like 6 places to git american standard parts.
He has 18 places to get Ruud parts and units.

Also said mabe 60 % of the people installing them don't know what they are doing or talkin about.
Said in the south you can't go by Seer alone.
said you need to go by like EER rating or something like that.
He said the Humidity here over rides the seer rating.
He will be here at 7:15 or so and nmy neighbor will let him in my house and he will look at everything. And he can come back Friday and put the unit I want in.

Said he put a American Standard in 2 yrs ago in. The heat part of it messed up.American standard couldn't tell him why it did it.
On his cost he took the American standard out and put the Ruud in.

Said in 8 yrs he has 0% problems with Ruud and he has them in Commercial business and homes.
Said he has a Ruud in a 2500 SQ ft house and is cooling it for 150.00 a month.
Said INstallation is very important on these air conditioners.

Also said the new air conditioners are build to make it to the 10 yr warranties and may make it till 15 yrs.
But they ain't made to make it to 20 or 30 yrs any more like carrier used to live to.
Stuff ain't built that good any more.
