Thank you, my friends. I might have mentioned that we can ride year around here, but maybe only a few 60 degree days December through February. It rained all last night and is still raining this morning. Our yard looks like a lake. I'm thinking our ride to the Biker Barn later this morning may be cancelled.

Good day to go out to the shop and shine & tighten the ol' girl up .

Take the new tank to a radiator shop, they'll pressure test and seal it for you...Got a few of mine done at local rad shop...they'd rather have one there unpainted,'cause the chemicals can ruin a paint job...but i think they were a lot more careful with the painted tanks they did for me;)....Only cost a few dollars more to have it done instead of buying that Kreem stuff...it was worth it not to have do the labor....and they do a better job...

Tape will keep the rattle down ...lol... No Duct tape ??:D

Thanks for the tip about a radiator shop. I will certainly do that. And no; no duct tape - I want to be able to get the darn stuff off when the time comes LOL.

The gas tank came the other day. Nice size and no rust anywhere (raw tank came in a plastic bag). Radiator shop wants $125 to seal it. No tanks o_O! I will do it myself. In the meantime, I've mocked it up after drilling and tapping the 3 bolt holes in the backbone, and also began work on grinding, filing, bondo & sanding. Had to order another petcock . . .

Guys here only charged about $30 more than the Kreem kit cost.... $125 seems a bit pricey for a small tank...Pretty sure I paid $90 for the split tanks on the Heritage, but that was at least 10 yrs ago....Kreem kit was around $60 then...here anyway...how much it cost where you are?

And again . . . 20131102_5.JPG Well, here's the new tank mocked up. I got this pic to post without using photobucket, but it took forever. Had to downsize to 640 x 480.

I can see why you don't mind puttin time into it, it looks pretty cool. I'm picturing a flat silver Maltese cross stenciled on the tank... The chrome and polished aluminum cases really bounce with the dull black finish. You should put up some Showcase photos with the new tank sometime.

Thanks, boys. I do enjoy working on the ol' thang from time to time. A Maltese Cross might look good on somebody else's bike - but not on mine. Not into that kinda stuff. Been thinking of tearing Tattoo's sticker off the oil bag - in a moment of weakness, I let him talk me into it . I try to keep the bike plain, the way Quakers are about things LOL. I'm sure they have refrigerators, though. I wear plain tee-shirts because I figure if I wear a company logo, I'm paying those jokers for free advertising.
