The bad part I would have sworn I read it was a 165 in the Clymer manual. I believe I will listen to the HD guys over Clymer. Like an idiot yesterday I pulled the carb to put the choke cable back in correctly and just had to monkey with it. I dropped the needle another notch trying to get rid of my little pause thing. Yeah well I not only didn't get rid of it I made it a mountain worse. That's ok my 18V 1/4" drive Dewalt impact makes short work of removing that rascal LOL. Scared to death to put it back with it though. I think my next trip on it will be back to HD for that 175 Jet. Which I have to call them when they open this morning. With any luck they will have it in stock and I can run down and get it before I go home.

there you go. Got a neighbor up the road with an 84 FLH been under a tarp for two years. Stopped to get him to price it but he don't want to sell. Eventually, he will ride it again (he hurt his back so it sets) , Sell the thing to me, or get a restraining order so I will quit buggin him about it :roflmao:

I may not be pitcrew material but I have gotten pretty quick with removing and replacing that CV :roflmao: . Took her home from work yesterday and pulled the carb, removed the top, adjusted the needle back to previous slot, replaced everything and was ready to run. About 15-20 minutes from getting the tools out to having them put away. Just as I fired the bike up my buddy pulled in the driveway. We took off on a little 80mile run and she did GREAT. No coughing, no spitting, only hesitation was when I was a gear or two too high on a hill. Even then she lugged down but pulled right on out of it until she hit a better speed for the gear and took off. :D

Only problem, NOW what do I work on  Guess I could finish the remodel of the house.

Yep, perfect chart for this thread - 'cause it makes no sense ;-)} 883's bumped up from a 160 (which was too lean) to a 175 with the same valves & combustion chambers ??? And nobody I know of (including about 2500 folks on another list) has been able to explain why the California models come with a 180 - you'd assume the bikes sold in CA would be leaner!

But as mentioned, there was a switch from the D cams to the W's in 883's & I don't know what year that was, but I do know it was after '03. (Earlier 1200S models had 'em & as of '04, all 1200's came with 'em). I've got the cam specs & the W's aren't a lot "hotter". And here's an interesting tidbit - fella with an '04 883 sent me a dyno chart after a dealer made carb changes & his bike has 45 slow/175 main jetting - max HP = 47.5. My 883 with D cams & 42/165 jetting makes 53.2 HP.

Uh-huh, Dynojet (or similar) kit in the carb. Wish I'd have known that & it sure explains a lot.

The only thing I could figure on that CA model was the air intake on thing on the bottom of the hamcan. All of them have them on the EFI models now. Maybe that increase in air needs the fuel but I haven't got a clue. Like everyone else I figured the CA model would be way restricted.
