I would also only use the Harley upper and lower gaskets for the rockers. Cometics for the rest. Good Luck..

The Mity Vac sucks. I would just use the old way to siphon the fuel from the top of the tank. make sure that you have one side of the hose crimped off well with a needle nose type vice script and you are as good as gold from there. Tip the tank towards the rear tire as you are removing the tank...

Well if you use the MightyVac correctly it allows you to drain the tank then remove the crossover without a mess. But up to you what you use.

Under the tank console is the vent tube for the tank. Remove the line and attach the line from the mighty vac. Leave your gas cap on. When the mighty vac is started, this will create a vacumn in the tank and stop any fuel from coming out ot the crossover line when you disconnect it.

With the mighty vac running you can disconnect one side of the crossover line, raise the tank and reconnect the crossover line. You might get a drop or two out of the crossover line, but that's about it.

An alternate method is to use locking fuel line pliers and a short piece of fuel hose with one end plugged. Clamp the fuel line plier to one side of the crossover line, start the mighty vac and disconnect the other side of the crossover line from tank. Now put the short piece of plugged fuel line on the crossover tube and lift off the tank.

Note: This will not work on fuel tanks that have the vent tube located in the fuel filler neck where the gas caps screws in.

Thanks ringo but I don't have a powered vac. I'm going to use a manual vac to siphon tanks.

Man hold on a second . To drain the tank on a fuel injected bike is so simple . Disconect the quick line from the tank put the same size coupler with a rubber hose on it into a fuel can jump 87 and 30 at fuel pump relay and the pump will drain the tank ofcourse connect your batter charger to. The battery while doing so. Or you will be upset when your done with the job.

You can get that fitting as a replacement at the dealer it is worth having it for future tank drains it always seems to come in handy. Pin 87 goes to the pump positive feed off the relay and 30 is batt positive make sure you place a fuse on the jumper wire . Just in case you f up lol. Less of a mess draining the tank and you don't even need to have the ignition on . But like I said make sure you have the charger on the batt.
