Like I need another hole in my head:rolleyes:. . . . Here's something new. Today I destroyed my kicker gear/bearing retaining plate. They were old. Got a push start from Tattoo and another buddy and made it home. Took the end cover off and found a crack in the kicker bushing and on the inside of the end cover as well. Gotta love 'em.

Already ordered the gear, retaining plate and a polished end cover (with new bushings and seal installed) from J&P and should be back in the saddle by the weekend. It's raining now with thunder and lightning . . . whenever it thundered when I was a little boy, my aunt, who raised me, said it was St. Peter bowling in Heaven LOL.

Charlie, I think I may have sounded a bit reckless, which of coure, I am. ;) But I do care about a certain amount of safety when it comes down to it. I just don't overdo it. What I lack in "safety" equipment I try to make up for with extra vigilence when riding. What gets me riled is all this nonsense these days about our various government agencies enacting safety laws to protect us from our selves. And people's attitudes about riding motorcycles in general. My mother-in-law is still against me about riding and my wife isn't crazy about the idea, either. They tolerate it. I've gotten a complaint from one of my neighbors about the noise, even though they live 2 blocks away in a brick house. Here at home, I'm truly a lone wolf, so to speak.

There have been countless riders who rode (and still ride) choppers without front brakes, jockey shifts, extended forks, no turn signals, and a host of other things deemed less than sane. I think it's safe to say most of them are still alive.

I like the minimalist approach to many things in life, and with my bike - less is better. :)

Plenty of YouTube videos out there to show you how to operate them.
And apple has a how to video.

If you want to take classes, apple has classes but you are going to pay for the classes.

I tried to get a few of my boys to show me the ins and outs of computerese, but they are wrapped up in their own little worlds.

I guess I'm not interested in taking computer classes. At some point, I will take my laptop in to a guy to clean it up and maybe show me how to do the picture thing.

I have my base plate and shifter lever all assembled for welding, which I will take in Monday. Shifter lever is a bent piece of 3/8" rod with a 1930s steel doorknob on top, All will be painted, (what else?) flat black. Very low key and bare bones.

I may have mentioned I'm trying to get a Sporty front drum brake, but the guys who are supposed to be helping me with this have not answered my email or phone calls when I left messages. Three weeks now . . . I guess my piddly little brake is not high on their list of priorities. Can't help but wonder if I've been left to twist in the wind. Will try contacting them again on Monday.

Bike is still running good, after the no oil incident. I have not noticed a change in power or sound. Me, Tattoo and a few other riders are going "somewhere" today for a ride. Yesterdays 100 mile ride (50 each way) to Nashville (N.C.) to get mower parts was fun. Mower still doesn't work, though.

If the bike isn't down for too many repairs, I average around 1000 miles a month in the saddle. That's just everyday, local riding. You have to put the miles in around here to get anywhere LOL. The fun thing is I haven't discovered half the country roads around here yet . . .

Your time in the saddle will come, Cowboy. Me and some buddies rode about 150 miles yesterday, with three stops at friendly biker bars. One had good eats. Boys, that 150 miles plus about a 100 the day before was a real ass beater on this ol' shovel. What fun! I feel pretty good this morning, sippin' coffee and getting ready to watch the sun rise.

Yesterday I rebuilt my riding mower carb before we rode and got the mower started. Runs good now, but I'm gonna have to knock the weeds down in the back yard with a weed eater first LOL.

Battery mostly dead on the mower. Charging it now. In the meantime, I'm saddlin' up for a ride and eat some lunch out. Mac the Wife found a kitten under the hood of mom's car this morning. She's staying home taking care of the poor thing. It's in bad shape . . .

That is so cool. I had to ride mine snail speed to get it to cut the tall grass. It was thigh high in places. Today there's lots and lots of raking to do. But I'm taking the shovel the long way into town for breakfast first.

Little kitty is a bit better today. Was dehydrated and starving and looks like it might lose an eye. Mac is taking it in to the vet today. If it passes all the disease tests, we're gonna keep it.

Same here. Grass looks pretty good for now, though. Little cat is coming home this evening with Mac the Wife. She named it "Bones". Looks like the eye is going to be okay. One more mouth to feed - we now have three cats, two dogs, two canaries & three people living here, plus four vehicles & a lawn mower to drink gas & oil. I'm beginning to see where all the money goes LOL.

Got my jockey shifter back from the welder today and it looks great. Did a little grinding and painted it and got it hanging up to dry in the shop.
