Fatboy, our lot is same size as yours (1/3 acre) and we still have 9 trees, even after hurricane Floyd took several in '99.

I don't see how anybody could have walked away from the moose crash. Dang!

That's a lot of trees Fatboy

Here is a Oregon Deer pic, don't want to hit one of these big bad boys. Wouldn't want to hit a moose either. Last week a guy riding his motorcycle close to where I live was killed after he hit a deer. Both were found dead side by side at 5:30 AM

Yea, guy I know from a local NC forum hit a deer few weeks ago on BRP. Guy behind him said it came out of nowhere, middle of day hit at an angle and knocked bike off road into a tree. Guy banged up, broken bones, but nothing life threatening..but get your attention when you know you ride the same roads.

Yes, they do get our attention. At least around here we have a deer hunting season and that helps keep the population down. Hardly a month goes by I don't see the buzzards pecking away at a deer carcass on the side of the road.

in very few designated public lands there is a short shotgun season and then a short bow season. But, that doesn't do enough to cut the over population of these suicidal white tail. So our buzzards are picking at dead people along the roads!

Problem ls on L.I. as in the rest of N.Y. you only get 1 deer tag per season. on L.I. there are HERDS of deer on the east end.

You don't have to head to the east end anymore to see herds. Almost every morning I see more than 10 walking across my property now. Last week I had 2 bucks on my front lawn and one was magnificent at I counted 12 points the other was about 10.

The bucks don't live long enough around here to get 12 points ;). In 15 years I've never seen a deer in town and we're pretty rural. I used to hate all the gun fire during hunting season, but now that I'm riding again, I figure every deer killed is one less potential accident to worry about.

. . . And that might make them more dangerous to bikers. Sort of like 90-year- old grandma's or grandpa's white knuckling their steering wheels.
