Got a INdy shop up the road that has a lot of folks comin in Riding Old Shovels wantin them worked on.
When I was down at a INdy shop workin about 4 yrs ago.
We had a dude that worked at the Chemical plant in Baytown area in Baytown, Texas riding a Shovel Head FLHt back and forth to work everyday.
It ran pretty good but needed a lot of attention.:D

what did they use to plug the case???? you may not have to split the cases. with out proper tools putting them back together is a PIA.........figure out what they used to plug it with, then decide if ya need to split the cases..........

Does anyone know if there's anything that can be applied to chrome parts to keep surface rust from forming?

Put chrome polish on it and then put WAx on it.

Have you ever, used Flitz on Chrome. Its some really good stuff.
I've known about if for about 35 yrs.

I took the cylinders off my engine. I was told by my engine builder that I can put them back on without re-ringing or honing.
Does this sound right or no?
Will I need to "break-in" the motor again?

That's exactly what I did and they said no I don't need to re-ring or hone.
I'm just trying to confirn with someone else that this is ok and has been done before.
There's only about 15k max. miles on the motor.

as long as you put the rings back in the same hole along with pistons you should be good to go.......dont pull the rings unless ya have to.........your builder is correct......cardboards machine shops like cash...........and lots of it!!!!!
