with the drag pipes its very hard to hear the difference in the motor . what I tend to do is rest my head up against the tank and find the smooth spot in the motors vibration. at around 1500 rpm you will find it better by feel than the sound with drag pipes . best if you have a 4 gas analyzer or wide band air fuel ratio gauge

Drag pipes are a drag! I've run em before on different bikes, I think they slowed the bike down more than anything..that and make a whole lot more noise. Once I got over the need to impress everybody with how loud my bike was I started running baffles in them, even expermented with wraping the baffles with a just a little bit of fiberglass muffler packing. Also tried steel wool. The steel wool just burned/rusted out right away. The fiberglass seemed to work ok. The bike sure ran better with the baffles. IMHO

I use a wedge of wood I made at 17.5 degrees which is the half way point between the extremes. Carb runs fine.

But 20 is good, too.

I run 38" drags with 3 1/2" baffles. I did notice a slight improvement in torque from no baffles at all, and still have the sound I like. Love the sound of a loud shovel . . . :D.
