I guess that I'm guilty of naming inanimate objects also, I call mine "My Therapist"
Whenever my mind gets a bit cloudy and twisted in a knot, I just go to have a session with " My Therapist " and then all is good with my world.... mostly.

    Hm,mmmm

Wow, never thought much about it expect when it's runnin' great or when it's bad out and then "We"(me and the bike) gotta get home "come on baby get us home" Usually if someone is asking how my bike is runnning I say, "yeah that Da##$ thing is runnin like a "raped ape today." does got the "Voo" stuff going on it. Tdncer? never put that in bikology terms but hey GO 4 it!!! I had one sporty years ago alot called "the little sporty". Used to run circles around them it did.
    Take care.

I call my bike bike.......and my boat boat and my truck truck. You get the idea. I have no imagination I guess when it comes to names. Hell.....I'll just forget it anyway. I suck with names.

I called it fat boy once. Cuz it's a Fatboy. I figure Harley already named it so who am I to change it?

Ol' Blue. Chuck has seen it so he can attest. Sounds about right, and I agree with GreyBear about the horse/steel horse connection, prolly right on about that one. At least, that's the way I see it, too. Besides, mine responds better to kind words...just like my real horse.

I used to call my 85' FLT "Land Barge". After riding MX bikes and smaller cruisers a Softail etc for a whole lotta years... It felt like a frigging barge when you turned.

Getcha a J&P Cycles (no affilliation) catalog - free for the asking. It's online too, but I like having the book better - over 1100 pages of descriptions & color photos of just about anything for any Harley made in the last 60 years or so. I also got free catalogs from Dennis Kirk & V-Twin. Ain't no problem finding parts for your bike & if I still had the ol' '47 Knucklehead, I could get any part for it too.

With respect to bike names, you could get really creative like me ;) H-D calls the color of my '95 "Aqua Pearl" & I call the bike "the blue one." And the '00 model is black, so I call it "the black one".

Yeah, got one(and numerous others) . Expensive to ship to Canada tho, just use it as a reference to call my Indy bud, he's got one of those shops in the middle of nowhere,no sign, even when you kno where it is its hard to find, but has people finding him from 3 Atlantic provinces and the state of Maine. I very very rarely go to the Stealership for parts, only if I'm stuck and they"may "have it in stock, but thats rare too.
If I really did name the bike, maybe Heinz 57, its got parts from 1960 to 2006 on it.
