It would take me several days and who knows how many beers . My bike has been down over a month now because of the cam seal leak and now the seat hinge. Most of the wasted time is waiting for parts.

Next time I'll order all the parts in advance.

Cowboy, is that a performance cam you'll be putting in?

Yep the 27 is a nice mild cam, I think you'd benefit by tightening up the quench area
maybe a bit thinner head gasket set...

You got time off from riding, why not pull the heads down and ship to kirby mabye
he could shave a little off them and give you a tighter quence, or ship cylinders, do a check see how far down in the hole the pistons are at TDC...

Good ideas. I got my seat hinge today and although it is a thing of beauty, it isn't what I expected. I will have to make extensive changes to make it fit right - and it won't be easy as the dang thing is made out of stainless steel. I'm gonna paint it anyway, so all that pretty metal will get covered up . I wish now I would have left the old seat hinge alone.

But I got a lot of time like you, Cowboy. It's gonna be below freezing every night for at least a week and daytime temps won't be much better . . .

Hearing all the cold complaints from you guys puts a smile on my face! Look at it as time for improvements. Parked the Sportster at the end of October, won't be out until mid April at the earliest! If only I had the money to do what I want, 'cause I sure as ^%#& have the time! Oh well, I did OK considering I have not had it a year yet.

I could not even imagine what it must be like up there. Why don't you put up one of those temperature thingies so we can see what real cold looks like!
