Yeah, especially at this point in my life. One of 'em told me if I ever, ever needed any help with anything to give him a call.

I been thinking about putting a new roof on the house this summer . . ..

Around 80 today, then 40s to 50s till the weekend, then back up to the 60s next week. I'm hoping this is the last shot of cold air we're getting till next winter. We made progress on the ramp. Buying the last sheet of plywood today and another gallon of Skid-Not paint. The boys and I will assemble the last section of ramp and hopefully have the thing finished by the weekend. Will post pictures when it's done.

I will give them extra credit - 100 for the 6 week period. The last section of framing went in without a hitch. There were a lot of angles and notches to cut; I couldn't believe how nicely it went together. Today I begin cutting the plywood pieces to size.

I'm hoping I'll be riding next week about this time. It will have been a month since I hurt the ribs & wrist and the ramp should be finished.

Are those 2x6's longitude ( length wise) and if so what is the distance they run between the beams ?

I'm thinking it needs more lateral support at least one more cross joint
you don't want it flexing with 400 pounds of wet biker and bike.

I tend to agree. The span looks a little long for the weight I expect. Either double up the longitudinal stringers or add another transverse beam or two

Needs another cross joint and needs another set of support posts between where it attaches at the building and the support post at the end.
Hope you attached the two sections together in the first pic where they butt up together.

There's another beam (4x4) going in the middle of the long section with posts & piers. Just haven't gotten around to it yet. Guys, I'm a builder - you don't think I would have left it like that in the middle, do you? o_O :).

And yes, there are a ton of 3" deck screws attaching the sections together and also attaching them to the 4x6 crossbeam. 3/4" plywood primed & painted with skid-not paint wll be screwed into the frame, then aluminum thresholds at the joints. Should be strong enough.

Sorry Josh, it's just the home inspector in me. Glad to hear your doing all that.:)

I think it will be strong enough and look really good. On my enclosed motorcycle trailer when I painted the ramp and floor I added sand to the paint for a non-skid surface worked out really well.

I'm presuming you checked the angle so that the bike won't bottom out at some point when you convert from the initial part of the ramp to the second level...

20140315_1 (640x480).jpg Eh, frog? Mac the Wife gets me hopping around here pretty good :D. I didn't have a long enough 4x4 to put under the frame, so I strung a couple of 2x4s on either side of the posts. Feels solid.

Sure is! We have a few of those metal frogs around the place.

The angle is only 8 degrees. I could almost push the bike up the ramp - almost :).
