I agree to a point, old friend. Some things are for debates. Like, what is the fastest car, the prettiest actress, the best color for a Harley or the most comfortable pair of boots. However, some things should not be up for a debate, and personal freedoms fit into that category.

I don't care if some rummy gives away his own freedom. The problem is that when he caves in he sets a precedent for someone to take away my freedom.

Here is a part of the article that made me wonder abvout.

"I tried to warn him that he would hit the bag and break the seal on my bag, but he ignored me," Sawyer said. "Sure enough, the seal was broken and urine started dribbling down my shirt and my leg and into my pants."

Had to laugh, tonight on the news they said a airline stewardess who had breast cancer was told to remove her prosthetic breast forms so they could search em when she was trying to get to work on her plane. Not that is all that funny but bet she was a bit pissed and embarrassed.

I wouldn't want their job.

I'll throw in my 2 cents and some change. Coming from someone who unfortunately needs to fly for business I have a big problem with the TSA. In fact I have a few nicknames for them.
    Thousands Standing Around
    Touches Scrotums Allday
    Transportation Shoe Analysts
    Trained Security Actors

I have several problems with what TSA is doing and how little it actually protects anyone. I am all for security and keeping people safe but drop the fair and equal crap or being politically correct. Every other country profiles their passengers and I see nothing wrong with it. All those on the no-fly list are from Muslim countries or places that admittedly harbor terrorists, and all but 1 guy on that list are of middle eastern or North African ancestry (the 1 white guy is some eco-vegan-terrorist from 20 years ago). If everyone is so agreeable that an overnight government agency should be able to scan us or fondle our nutsacks looking for something that not even they know what it is, then why would it be so objectionable to say "we are going to thoroughly screen anyone looking like a terrorist"? Last time I checked, old ladies and children didn't fly planes into buildings. Americans and those who do not fit the stereotypical profile of what a terrorist looks like are not a threat. Shoe bomber, underwear bomber, bombs shipped by UPS, none of which originated here or would have been prevented by the current backwardass security tactics.

This past weekend I was flying home and watched as TSA agents hoisted up an older woman from her wheelchair while the woman TSA agent reached up her skirt. The woman was so humiliated she was nearly in tears as others stood and stared. Seriously, does that make us any safer?

There are others making claims that the current administration has a vested interest in those who manufacture the new scanning machines but I won't speculate about conspiracy theories. I will say that other countries (and terrorists) are probably sitting back laughing at this country and how we attempt to secure our internal air travel by dressing up renta-cop misfits in government uniforms and telling us all "we will make you safe". I think its horrible that we should have so little respect for fellow Americans because we are afraid to be honest and profile those we suspect.

There, I said it, I'm done :cussing:

You cannot 'make' anyone safe. No matter what you do, if the enemy wants you dead he just goes and gets a bigger gun.

And strangely, the only time a potential terrorist has failed it's because the passengers ganged up and beat him to the ground. The government had zip to do with that.

We've had a problem with getting the USA to accept the idea of traveling by rail. This fiasco might get the public thinking. Of course, then the government will muck that up, as well.

    Ken, ditto,

Thankfully I no longer have to fly for work,
with online meeting software you can eliminate a lot
of travel and put more money back into the company
    not into TSA pockets

JMO the invasive pat downs are by design to force
passengers into giving up freedoms and entering the
porn zone, that way we'll be lemmings, following one
another through the full body scanners.

Whats worse some numbskull grabbing your nutsack
or just walking though a screening machine...

I worked CN and CT missions for most of my service career and know just how much BS these TSA procedures are. Think, people! Scanners that won't show plastique/C-4/semtex in response to a plastique/C-4/semtex attempt? Pat downs of clearly off-profile persons for appearance of "fairness" (whatever that is - life ain't fair)? THINK: What are the objectives of these procedures?

The 9-11 terrorists brought carpet knives on board and took over those planes because no one on board knew that their failure to resist would cost them their lives. On FLT 93, the passengers only found out after "illegally" using their cell phones in flight, so they stormed the cabin and brought it down. And do you know why there have not been repeat attempts by terrorists to copy this plan? The majority of terrorists didn't know that they were commiting suicide! They were trying to take control of the aircraft, and that cannot be done anymore by a small group of men with knives. So let folks keep there pocketknives and files on planes.

Taking down airliners is a lot easier than TSA wants you to know. It has already been done overseas, but not reported as such. I am not going to give anyone any ideas, here, though. The main point is there haven't been any attacks attempted or dissuaded that were detected by these TSA actions. The few mentally ill Middle-Eastern/African men that have tried to damage aircraft since were all caught in spite of the TSA (one was even on the No-Fly List!). So we need to check up a nun's habit?

They should disband the TSA and transfer all its personnel to street corners in Oakland CA, Chicago, and Washinton DC. They have a far better chance of preventing thousands of deaths there.

Freedom isn't maintained by government preventing every crime. In a free society police work best by competently pursuing, capturing and bringing to justice those that violate the Constitutional rights of others AFTER the fact, deterring others from that course, as a result. If that ain't good enough for you, you must want to live in a prison. I fear too many do...:(
