I really don't think the cat causes a LOT of back pressure, of course some but if you look at one it's just a honey comb the exhaust passes through and a tuner, done right , will add performance. My concerne was getting rid of the heat radiating off the cat. There will always be a faster Harley no mater how much $$$ you spend. JMO

What tuner do you have? Hope you have a heated garage. I'm gonna fire up the wood stove when I put my header on. I know I'm not as cold as you guys are but still better when it's about 65-70 degrees.

Charlie it runs cooler but that cat still runs hot. My 2012 made my foot feel like it was burning. I had a hard time keeping my foot on the boards. Plus in a warm area or hot day here it caused the oil temp to run much hotter than I think it should have. Down in Vegas and Maddog can attest to it it was running around 390.
The new 2014 does run cooler, much cooler but it will gain some HP without the cat in place and help keep it even cooler.

YES. That's why I removed the cat(just to get rid of the heat). My point is the bike runs great without any further mod.(tuner). Power?, It's got PLENTY just like that.

    Its not all about power...

Gas today is filled with ethanol, which burns hotter and can cause
problems especially in air cooled high temp engines,

A good tune will help keep temps down, improve MPG, and
keep the life of the engine longer.

Do whatever you like, the EFI system has a little wiggle room
but in the long run a tune will be better...

Fuelmoto makes a header pipe with no cat. Its stainless steel. Got a lifetime warranty. You do not need the ceramic coating either.
Fits Perfectly, I been runing one for 3 1/2 yrs now. Got another buddy that bought one. He said what a great header pipe.
It has both the 12mm lambda sensor bungs and the 18 mm Wide band sensor bungs. And plugs for each set of bungs.

    1st class way to go.

Got the header in like Charlie did and the guy did a quality job of gutting it and welding it back together. I still have my old 2012 one that I sent back to him so that I can work on changing it without being rushed this winter. Build a fire in the wood stove get some heat in the shop and work on it while drinking some coffee.

I did put my old header up to the one I got in and checked them over. The fit of the one that he gutted and welded back together is identical to my 2012 one. Guy did a first class job. So I'll still have one with the cat in it still. Not a bad deal for 69.00
