Charlie, did you ask to speak to the H-D Area Rep? I would have insisted on that since your bike came with a 2 year UNLIMITED MILEAGE warranty. Unless you bought it in '08, you should still have had warranty time.

By the way, my '08 FLHX now has 80,000 totally trouble-free miles. It did need the clutch adjusted within the first 1,000 miles, but never again since. And I always hold it in gear at stop lights.

I've been travelling constantly Johnny, except for this year cuz of an injury. I went to Alaska this time just to sit around and rest. Did catch some salmon that got away from the bears though. Smoked salmon for dinner 3 nites a week, and bbq moose steaks (yum!) a neighbor gave me.

3 weeks of fishing and sitting on the porch drinking Miller Genuine, and watching the critters frolic have rejuvenated me. Not that any of that would interest a young feller like yourself.

For those of you who wnated to know if I see or hear a difference between my original tranny oil choice of Belrays Gear Saver 85-140w dino oil and the Redline V-Twin Transmission Oil (syn) oil. I haven't heard anything different with the "clunk". As I said, I swear that the up-shifts with the Belray are quiter than with the engine oil syn or dino. I dropped the Belray and added the Redline early this week. First impression is that the Belray smells like hypo oil the Redline doesn't (so what) . The Redline is very very clingy though. Although it slides (drains) easily from the funnel it leaves a heavy film in the funnel! But it feels much more slippery in the very scientific thumb to index finger test. Bottom line, I'm gonna stay with the Redline.

I've been using Redline Shock proof gear oil now for years, been very happy with it. I can't believe anyone would put that SYN 3 engine oil in the tranny.

Switching to the redline, Don't ever want to go through this again. Everyone who uses it is happy with it.

That's my neighbors dog "Bart" the Husky. He goes with me when I walk out back because he chased away "Bart the bear" when the bear was eye-balling me like I was a steak. You have to carry a gun when you walk around here, so I use my old service .45 Colt. It will stop a grizz if within 10 feet. I don't know about a moose though.

Interesting note about the bears here: they have learned to not growl or make any noise when the are coming up behind you.

Other shots are my shack; back yard pond; chunk of Chilkat Glacier floating down Inside Passage; Grizzly Lake down the road.

Throw out bearing is easy to replace .
And when you adjust your clutch at the primary you can mess ip yer throw out bearing up by having too much tension on it, if you don't leave some play.
I'd hate to see the material go threw the other bearing oh.
