I have to admit, I disliked VISTA more than Windows 8. RAM hog... liked XP and Windows 7. Windows 8 is hard to me because it is like Microsoft came up with a whole new concept that does not seem like a natural progression like their other operating systems did.

Getting back to oil . . . Has anyone ever used Klotz synthetic oil? Been thinking of trying some 20/50 for the motor and some 75/90 gear oil for the tranny. Tattoo uses it in his shovel except he uses straight 50. Wondering if it will be an improvement over dino oil I'm using now. The company claims it will help the motor run cooler. The motor oil is $16 a qt. and the gear oil about the same.

Just curious, boys - not wanting to start another oil war LOL.

Give it a shot. Can't hurt anything but your wallet if you don't see a difference go back

Bet your shovel doesn't run overly hot anyway...It definitely won't hurt your bike as much as your wallet;).. It might run a few degrees cooler, you might hear a little more valve train noise and if your gaskets aren't perfect you might find a little weep somewhere....No harm in trying it out though, just don't panic if you hear or see any of above mentioned...:D

It ran pretty hot the other day, but it was 90 degrees out. I didn't notice the heat from the motor until I pulled the bike inside the shop. After having fixed all the leaks, I found a small leak at the kicker shaft that day. Sort of sprayed some fine droplets on the exhaust pipe just under it :arghh:. Oh well - I knew it wouldn't last. Ol' shovels have a way of marking their territory, don't they LOL.
I wonder how much cooler I could expect the motor and tranny to run switching to synth oil? If only a few degrees it doesn't seem worth the added expense - and I definitely don't want more leaks.

Shouldn't have used synthetic hard drive oil, probably caused the internal disks to skate....
