I really think there are less expensive alternatives, REVTech has a vtwin oil, check your motorcycle shops as long as its Vtwin and 20W-50 you should be fine, I just don't think you'll find a big price difference between HD and RevTech maybe a buck or so a qt.

Absolutely true. Add the H-D name, add $$$. I was advocating using a quality designed for air cooled engines such as RevTech, Belray, or Mobil1. The key is a quality oil and frequent changes. We are picking up the Redline oil products and regardless of price I know they will sell very well in the summer because of their reputation and quality.

Yep. The kicker is the helmet was not an HD brand and they still tacked on another 30% lol. I think I am going to try Mobil 1 SG 20 50 or just 50. I don't do much riding below 60 degree. As far as primary oil the best is best. My mule is down right now. It seems that it sheared a keyway key on the clutch main shaft. Having a heck of a time getting the compensator nut off. Its not only tight but I guess the rebuilder to a chisel to the comp nut to make it expand lol. Probably a ton of loctight on it as well. I have a 1 1/2 in socket but it does not fit real snug. I wonder if the nut is a 1 7/8 . Would be the pits to strip it. Would never get it off then lol.

    Heated

Hey hogheaven, try to put some heat on the nut. You can go on down to Home depot and buy a heat-gun for less then $20 bucks. Heat guns work wonders on nuts and bolts, especially if the nut has any kind of lock-tite type of substances on it. I've heard you can also use a good hair dryer, but, it will take much more time. Believe me, if you do your own wrenching you will get good usage out of an heat-gun.

HH get access to an impact wrench and it will come right off, it's a PIA to do manually and yes heat it up a bit to loosen the red.

IF you must trailer it over to a dealer or indy shop for a couple of bucks they'll bring the impact right out to the trailer and pop it off for you.

Holly cow folks!!! This darn compensator nut won't come off ??? I have tried a four foot breaker bar. I have tried heating it. I have tried two 1/2 in electric impact wrenches and it does not even budge. I guess I will have to take it to Main street choppers to get some proffessional help. I just hope I didn't damage the crankshaft seal by heating it. It is now a 1 and 7/8 nut lol. Darn all I need is a Clutch shaft key and probably a clutch hub bearing and I would be back on the road. Let you all know how it turns out when the shop opens tuesday.

    Re-Heated

Hey hogheaven what are you heating it with?

If it is a heat-gun, just blast it for 5 plus minutes your not going to hurt anything.

A four foot breaker-bar surely should do it. and you used an impact too!

All I can say here is good luck.

I used a propane torch. It got hot but I don't think i hurt anything. crossing digits. Thanks i need all the luck i can get. The only other thing i can think of is punching out a pin in the primary chain and just leaving that comp nut alone. but i am going to take it in first and ask the mechanic first. I figure he rebuilt the top end and he had to pull the enging out so he was the last to remove this nut.

More of that logic hogheaven. Make the guy who put it on, take it off. :D
Yes, you must be a little more careful with a torch.
