Great thread. Nobody in my family rode motorcycles. It's nice that you have that legacy, BI, and the pictures to prove it! Cool stuff.

Very Very Cool stuff. My Pop's bunch wouldn't have their picture taken on bikes.(supposedly bad luck). Or would they own a green bike.

Saw that on FB to BI and that is really very cool about your dad. You have a dad to be proud of and a lot of memories that are really special for you. Glad they were all preserved for you.

My dad rode but mostly to work and back. At one point the only transportation we had (2 sisters, two brothers, my mother and me) was a motorcycle. Boy was my mother upset with him. So he went and got a 3 wheeled car where the door opened in the front.
But my dad never quit riding. He had a larger scooter he rode back and forth to work and carried a sawed off baseball bat in a scabbard. There were some stories floating around of a few cars with dents on the fenders.
He never owned a Harley but all the bikes and riding was the catalist that propelled both my brothers and I to ride. I even owned a bike (305 Honda Dream) on the island of Guam.

Pretty cool stuff there BD and a proud heritage you have.

Excellent post, loved the pics and comments. I think Johnnybiker had mentioned once "Why do you use this forum". This is the type of thing that keeps me coming back as I find the American history of the 40s to 80s very interesting in all it's forms.

just proves that having the wind in your face on whatever form soothes the soul. Starts with a swing as a toddler goes to a bicycle as a kid then on to a motorcycle. And it transcends generations.

Ya last year I went back Saturday nite at the insistence of a newly riding co worker who wanted to see the nite life. Ha! WhT a waste of time. Best part was the winding rural 60 mile road to get there. We were gridlocked 2+ miles from the weirs. Every time the lite turned green maybe 2-3 bikes got thru, meaning just because the lite turned green mean that you could you move. So we pulled over. Luckily landed in a hodgepodge temporary built in the parking lot beer hamburger place. So we stayed, had a few beers, ate and debated should we get back in line and canoodle with other patrons. I noticed there sure are a tons more MC's these days. Buy a harley have a MC patch even if you have to make it up with your other 2 buddies, lol.

Mt Washington auto road used to be empty during the week leading up to Laconia now it's worse than the Long Island Expressway during rush hours !

In the Northeast its urban compact major. There are vast stretches of wooded roadways but urban compact isn't far away. After being on that stretch of I-40 between Barstow and OKC I find that comforting, lol.

    What's "OKC"?
I've done I15 between Las Vegas and Barstow several times. Stayed in Barstow and worked in Yermo CA at the Marine Corp logistics base. Too many Californicators tearing up the pavement to lose their money in sin city on 15.

Ditto... Did that about 7 years ago...Road sucked...The top 3 miles or so were this slippery gravel/cinder chit and the wind at the top was bad which was no surprise...After that we went over to Wild Cat and took the chair to the top and there were some great views there too....

Stayed in Franconia Notch the Notchwsy Inn. Cool vista out the room windows. Also went up Cannon Mountsin and others. The Lost River is cool too.
