Called the HD dealer today. Asked for the service mgr and they said he was off. Asked if my bike was back from the painter and the guy in service said yes. That the service mgr has some parts ordered for the transmission. To call back tomorrow and I could git the scoop from him cause he's handling all the work on my bike.

Glad to hear the bike is back from the painter. Can't wait till tomorrow to talk with the service mgr and see what the scoop is.

I'm having the DT's from not having my bike for over a month.

I know that the service mgr said the Main Bearing in the transmission is BAD !

How the heck can a main bearing go out with only 30,000 on a bike.

Hope they cover it under warranty along with the paint on the frame.:cussing:

I ain't had my bike in well over a month. Man this suxs.

ya think they are doing that on purpose LOL

Yeah I had my 124 down for close to 6 months, twice in two years when the rod broke and it needed new cases, then, they (SNS) didn't get the balancer covers installed right, and it tore up the cases again.

They did cover the costs though.....

Go rent one for a weekend.... See if they will give you a deal, try out a new Ultra or Road Glide or whatever...

Retirement is great:cool: ,and it is an adjustment to spending, it’s kind of like learning to be cheap when before there was no limit.

Think there is anyway the synthetic oil could of caused the bearings to skate and that's what made them go out ?:banghead:

I'd say no, I have been using the same oils that you do for the past 47,000 + miles and no problems. I had a new 93 Chevy 6.5 turbo diesel and it spun a bearing with less than 5,000 miles on it. Just one of those things, GM did replaced the entire motor from the air cleaner to the flywheel. Drove it 300,000 more miles before I sold it.

:fight: Now don't you go and start being a conspiracy theory guy..

That's just and old wives tale bearing skate, too slippery, right...

Welcome is an oil forum one of the best and free even has
a bike section. go ask about bearing skate.... they'll let ya know.

Sometimes shidt just goes bad, gives out, if its covered by HD great, I'd be glad they found it and fixed it...

I'd call them up and say that's on HD right?
they tell you yes then tell them to fix everything LOL

Just talked to the dealer again.
They are waitin on 2 needle bearings to do the job, they have all the other parts. For some reason they are on back order.
They are rebuilding both shafts in the tranny. and replacing the main drive bearings, main drive gear, surclips and all.
The whole tranny will be rebuild.
Seems like everybody knows about these beaings going bad and are ordering them.

But I'm tired of waiting. Dang !:banghead:

My buddy Ricky brought his 08 EGC over yesterday mornin and parked it in my driveway and said go ride, I haven't ridden it in over 3 months.
I got on it and rode to college station to the HD dealer where my bike is.
Asked the service mgr what parts they had on back order and couldn't git to do the work on my bike.
    He said HD#8042 needle bearings.
He said if I called a Harley Dealer for the bearings and they seen on the comuter that the bearing were on back order.

Called Riders Harley Davidson in Trussville, Ala who is open 7 days a week and talked to parts and asked for the 8042 Needle bearing, they said theydidn't have any and they are on Back order.
They were suppose to be off back oreer the 18th of this month but they were back ordered again.

riders has a sister store in Pelham, Ala called Heart of Dixie Harley Davidson, I called Heart of Dixie.

they have exactly 2 HD #8042 Needle Bearings to go with the main drive gear.

I asked if they would take a credit card and ship them to me. The dude in parts said he would have to wait till next week and ask his boss. Fck That.
I asked will you put my name on them and i will have somebody to come and pick them up within 45 minutes. He said O.K.

I called my Best buddy and asked him to ride over to Heart of Dixie HD and pick the bearings up.

My buddy has the bearings in his hand and is going to UPS tomorrow and shippin them to the HD dealer in College station.
