Man - this is GREAT. I got a lot of info in the dialogue of the last several emails plus a couple more folks found how small the world can be. What it comes down to is some folks like their bikes stock out of the box, some tricked out to the max and the rest somewhere in between. I called a Harley owner friend last night and talked about this stuff. Anyhow we're going to the Harley dealer where he lives and talk to the guy who he deals with. I like the way his bikes do and he's extremely happy with the bikes, the service, etc. (good combination). Anymore info? Go for it!!!!!!!!!!

    Thanks donny!

I had that car for about 7 years. It was in nice shape when I got it in '98.

I built a 331 stroker (Holley, AFR heads, Edelbrock, custom cam, etc.) for it and tricked up the C-4. It put over 330hp to the rear wheel on the dyno.

Believe it or not.....the '03 Mach 1 was my fav of the 3.

My 07 Street Bob has Vance & Hines Big Shots, Arlen Ness Big Sucker and the V&H fuel pack. My friend has 31 years riding experience, owns 14 motorcycles and has had many, many Harley Davidsons, including the 07 Street Bob in the black out version with a Screamin' eagle filter. He says my bike runs smoother than any of his Harleys, so my current combo is one of those "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" situations. Now, I have been told the Power Commander is better, but I haven't had time to research why just yet. I will say this, the Big Shots have one of the best sounds I've ever heard, Deep, not farty at all and they pop nicely when downshifting. Can be heard by cars, but not over the top loud at all.

You said it HotRoadKing! It's funny, I usually take a look at what kind of bike is going by when I'm walking around NYC. Some Harleys sound like a giant whoopie cushion blowing out a lot of hot air. I'd be changing those farty pipes fast if I had them ;)

Take a look at V&H BIG RADIUS, They will look good on your bike, I ran them on my 04 Low rider, Two of the guys i ride with are running them as well, one on a 06 Wide Glide, The other one on a 06 Super Glide but he went with the 2 into 1 Big Radius and it really brought his bike to life. I think the BR is the best looking set of pipes on the market. I'm thinking about taking the True Dual Big Shots off my Screamin Eagle Road King and installing a set of the Big Radius.

My Big Shots help a lot, performance wise. Don't know about the Big Radius, but if it's even equal to the Big Shots they're great.

The Big Shots and Big Radius - Are they slip on mufflers or are they entire exhaust systems from the cylinder back?

One of the earlier posts pointed me to the Fuel Moto website. They have a package that consists of: DJ Power Commander V, Fuel Moto SE Stage 1 Breather kit and Rush slip ons for $627. The price looks pretty good but what is everyone's thoughts on this combination or these particular products?
    Thanks,
    Danny

    Mufflers, Air and tune

Having done SE/KN air, SERT, and Rush mufflers with dyno at 1k I have been happy for 2 yrs. Got a great running motor with great acceleration all through the rpm range, and cooled it down.
When the 07s 1st came out almost everyone raised heck about the heat and now it has settled down, Just like the 2000 TC;s when they first came out, most raised heck about the heat and then it just goes away..
Anyway the stage 1 will give you 3-5 more #'s TQ and HP, mostly I didnt feel much difference..
Now after 2 yrs I am changing cams and putting on a set of D&D Fatcats this winter. don't want to do any more than that for now.. not needed for my riding style... But you will save money if you wait and do it all at once and during winter as most dealerships have winter specials and you wont need to buy pipes again and retune twice,,,
So think through your pipe choice and if you might want a bolt in cam later or more motor work 103, heads, etc, you will save some cash if you wait and do it once,

    Just My Three cents worth.....

    Grandpatom,
Thanks for your two cents - actually worth a lot more. Why did you choose the SERT over the others?

    Re - SERT

Big reason is the SERT allows the tuner to enter the ECM and reprogram it. After it is programed you remove it and store it away. Nothing added to bike or piggy backing, nothing to brake down, except the ECM itself.
Other tuners let you program them yourself and they plug inline and stay there. Some dont offer as much tuning ability when compared to SERT, but with a SERT tuner you will need to find a good tuner or have faith in your shop dyno guy (they are not all equal). Dont be afraid to ask questions....
With the SERT if you make changes to, pipes, cams. air filter, often it will cost more because usually you will need a retune and 2-4 labor to do it, so it cost each time you change something. thats why I said try to do it once.

I done it for reliability, tune ability. and not wanting to fiddle with adjusting it to get it running myself..... I just want to ride... and I have been satisfied with it 100%.

There are a lot of others happy with other tuners so you have to weight it out for yourself which one meets your needs.

That's the reason my 09 Ultra has the Race Tuner on it. If I were to put a different system on it then it would probably be the Power Commander (price, availability, functionality and so on) but it is still a system as mentioned that is a piggy back and not a part of the system. I'm fortunate to have one of the nations top tuners here at Latus Motors that is 5 miles from the house.

    V H Slip On

I just added a set of VH Straightshots HS slip ons without baffles to my 06 DWG..freaking louder than stock for sure.
Question is do I need to have any type of tuning done or am I good to go?

Its suppose to be close to 70 tomorrow here in southeast Texas so I wanna ride the beast to work! No longer sounds like a sewing machine.

It'll run better if you put baffles in, V & H are loud even with baffles or try Big City Thunder baffles they are loud and work very well. What other mods have you done?
