Two twists of the wick and crack the throttle open a c-hair is how I started my Evo hot...Jumped to life...
Only use the choke when it's stone cold, then get it off as quick as possible and no hitting the throttle with it on...

Yeah, I only use the choke when cold starting at the beginning of the day. The rest of the starts I don't need to choke it.

Tattoo has told me I should use pipe wrap on my pipes (he does) because then the heat will be retained and the cylinders will burn better and the pipes will scavenge better. Any thoughts on this? Perhaps our original thread starter might want to consider wrapping his pipes - then he wouldn't have to be concerned with bluing LOL.

But I wonder if this is a good idea or not . . .

Any thoughts on wrapping, well I thought about it.

Negs I've read about. The heat that gets excessive under the wrap can crack the pipe, it allows surface rust, the chrome pealed, they smell terrible when wet after washing your bike. Don't get oil on them they smoke for days, I saw that my self. They look like chit when they get older so its best to use high heat paint on them to keep them from fraying. The gain, less heat it's reduced by, I think Vance & hyenas says 40%. Hp gain, not worth the issues the wrap cause from what I read. I've not seen numbers but no one was going, oh my what a dif lol.

I will add that a friend years ago took me to his friend who drag races Harley's. His pipes were golden brown, you know how I know? No wrap, no wrap on a drag bike so is it worth it? I looked at the issues some had and decided not to risk it. I couldn't see it being much at all as far as hp and TQ gain. Even if so Its still not worth the issues I've read to ruin my expensive pipes!

You must have nice pipes. Some of them are quite costly. Mine only cost around $150. I don't mind the gold color - just shows you ride and don't let your bike sit around. I've heard the same for blue pipes.

Not to bad but enough I'm not risking the side effects I've read others got.

Arg, I'm in my shop doing a carb off of a fxr. Last week I orderd the 45 pilot and slide spring from cv performance, I still had some nokk needles but will use there's when I run out, but forgot to get a main jet!!!!

I'm used to using the cv 44 mm carb spring but from what I see this spring will do it's job just fine. The spring I took out has 2 coils cut off and the cv performance spring was a half coil shorter. Should result in a quick smooth response.

Don't use the enrichener here unless it's been a week or more since I last started my bike (just about never). Just push da button n roll the throttle.

    Aloha....Mike
