I booked the Holiday Inn near Sturgis using points (free to me! the best price) and my son and I are planning on attending. First time for either, any must see, must do, must ride routes from those who have been there?

Please define near, as in Rapid City , Spearfish or?? Spearfish canyon is a nice ride.
Downtown Sturgis find a place to rest and do some people watching. On LaSalle St. (main drag in from the interstate and Deadwood) near downtown there is some grass spots next to the vender area with shade, a good place to watch traffic and people watch.
Deadwood is a good visit to. Custer State park, There is enough to keep you going someplace new everyday for a week.
Just enjoy and make sure you get picture to take back home, people who haven’t been there don’t know what they are missing. We haven’t decided yet to go but we haven’t missed one in the last 10 or so years. It has changed a lot since the mid 90’s when I first went.
There is a lot of venders at the Harley dealer in Rapid City also.
If you want the R rated stuff you’ll have to go one of the big camp grounds.
Couple of web site to check out.

The holiday in in Rapid City, the one in Sturgis was already full. They had wanted $295 a night, but I am using points. It means if we do any barhopping, we will need taxis, or to drink NA drinks. I just want to check it out, see the sites, and do some nice rides:).

Sounds like everybody has got a pretty good fix on what they are planning to do this summer.
But in the meantime whats the plans? A lot of small local runs or just gettin on it and pickin a direction with no place to go? And ride like ya stole it. That's my plan for sure; sometimes those rides turn out better than ones you spend all winter gettin ready for.

I get to plan a 4 day over night ride for the chapter going to the Oregon light houses. Ending up overnight at the Casino in Coos Bay along the coast.

Two other chapter over nighters one called the Cowboy Dinner Tree in central Oregon the other Leavenworth WA, its a Bavarian town set in the high Cascade mountains, pretty cool place.

North meets South Rally, Maybe Street Vibrations. That's what were doing so far this year. :)

Make sure you got plenty of ice in the saddlebag - warm pepsi sucks even when liberated with JB. ;)
