:roflmao:A lot of people feel that way....me included, but it's a function over form thing with the shark nose, guy's that ride them love them...frame mounted fairing handles better than the fork mounted batwing...they kinda remind me a bit of the "Windjammer" fairing guys used to put on their Japanese bikes in the early 70's....Is it in 2012 the Glides have the 103" stock and the 2011's are 96"??

You could get the 011's with the 103 but it came as a package deal with ABS and Cruise Control. yes the 012's are stock with the 103"

Shark nose works great, and grows on ya
I like it because a lot of folks don't
however it's now becoming the bike of choice
    for many.

Handling is light years ahead of previous frames
    and JMO the batwingers...

I get numb hand sometimes on longer rides
cruise is great for setting and letting the hand rest
a bit. Better than throttle lock as cruise maintains speed.

ABS is great, you NEVER lock up, so you are
able to hit max braking point without losing control

Don't go ride an 09 and up bike unless ya
want to really get a new one LOL

Me I hate the look of that fixed fairing. Had it on a Goldwing and never did like it. The Road Glide fairing is to far forward and you feel like your reaching. I love my batwing and will never go back to a fixed fairing.
Yep those who don't like cruise or ABS will never understand until they have it.

thats ok you don't like it
I prefer less people on RG's lol

the secret should be kept secret LOL

Actually because of my size I prefer the farther
    out RG fairing... Roomier...

BTW if your goal is less wind, don't get on an RG.

I like the Road Glides..just a bit breezy for me but while we're dreaming of bikes I was wondering whether to get a newer Dyna Super Glide or find a clean FXR.

Sleepy, got a buddy with a super clean Evo FXR with less than 5 K on the clock
other than the aftermarket grips it's 100% stock and very well maintained..

$6500 will probably take it home...

This could get me into serious trouble. I haven't run this idea off the boss yet. There's a bunch of 'em up here, not very many unmolested. They're just such a sweet bike to ride. Your buddy should have no problem getting that kind of money. I wish I wasn't 4500 miles away, i'll bounce it off the boss anyway. Thanks for the tip. What year and model is it?

FXR's are pretty sought after bikes, that won't last long...Harley's secret was the FXRT's ...the first Road glide's...only thing about them was if to tried to hang a U turn at night the head light would be pointing straight ahead...Does the headlight move with the forks on the new shark noses??...BMW's do on their fixed fairing bikes....

I had a SP..dual discs longer suspension custom paint from the factory..bright yellow and white. did a bit of headwork carb pipe and cam....great bike...good times, lotta miles. There are some up here FXR4 and someone in town here sold a 1992 with a lot of stuff on it for under 9000..wasn't quite what I was looking for..lowered, custom paint. It looked good though. I don't think the lights turn on a Road Glide. I don't know what I'd do if I had a fixed fairing bike with lights that turned with the front wheel. None of my other faired bikes did that.

I am considering the ABS and Cruise Control. My decision is going to be based on how much all of the other stuff is going to cost me.. BTW, I am considering a cam that has my main power in the mid to upper rpm curve...

Better to have a cam that pulls down low to mid range like the 255

I agree if you are going to use the bike as a daily rider and for in town riding, I still have the Sportster for that.... This bike for me is going to be for the longer hauls so I would rather have the hard pulling power just before my usual cruising speed. I have never been a fan of all the grunt being on the low end, I like it more even distributed.

I guess thats why I not as happy with the Andrews 26 as most riders I talk to are ,I like to cruse around 80mph & the RPM gets a bit high at that speed over my stock cams
