There should be a pattern somewhere in your S Manual if you don't follow it you can crack the case & it will leak even if you don't crack the cover

The only thing that comes remotely close to a sequence is that it shows a diagram of bolt placement with number 1-3. The numbers are indicators of bolt lengths and quantity of each.

Can I start with the uppermost bolt ( #1) and work my way around counterclockwise and do all the number 1's, then on the #2's then 3's?

JB, start in the center and work out, top then bottom then top then bottom. And I would also do left then right.

This is similar to what I have in my book, but mine only has numbers going 1 through three. I have 7 #1's, 4 number 2's and two #3's. :banghead:

Use a criss-cross pattern, starting in the middle...snug them up first then torque them down using the same pattern... same with the derby cover....criss-cross or star pattern...you want to torque them down evenly...

I think the torque spec on the bolts is 220 foot/lbs.

Like Lucifer said! Always start in center, crisscross, working your way out to both ends evenly. Break torque spec down a few times working your way up to spec. Can never go wrong with this technique.

WTF LOL 220 FOOT POUNDS :roflmao::roflmao:

Inch pounds maybe and I bet it's a lot less.

JB,, like the diagram shows, the bolts are numbered
and you work from center out in crisscross pattern.

I don't have your sporty pattern but if you start in the center
and move it like you do a wheel (star pattern) and work out to the ends
this clamps the center down and then forces pressure to the ends
    eliminating warping...

Yes, I do, the spec that it needs to be torqued at is 80-110 inch pounds. I like to be right in the middle of the spec so I will torque to 95 in/lbs.
