I see now My answer about my wife knowing didn't make sense. Pain meds get me a little spacey. No and if she did she'd break my other knee.
Here is another example of the motor company pulling fast ones while assembling our bikes; when disassembling my fork tubes I found that on one leg they left off the copper washer on the screw that fastens the inner slider to the outer one. This screw is located at the very bottom of the lower slider after the axel is removed. The bopper washer is to seal the fork oil in. So instead of the washer they silicones the screw. The other leg had the screw.

Dosen't sound like the MoCo would make a mistake like that, but many a shade tree mechanic would do that after misplacing the washer . Both of mine were like that from Robs's used Harley Parts and no sillycone, either! To be fair to Rob, he probably didn't know it as he buys parts at swap meets and sells them. Can't expect him to tear the tubes apart and inspect them for missing parts.

I discovered the boo-boo when I had to take the front end apart to install the Progressive Suspension lowering kit and shave the lower legs.

I've owned the bike from 9,000 miles. My friend bought the bike new and put the 9,000 on it. NO ONE ever touched the forks since built. It came from factory like that. Just like the lower triple tree pinch bolts were broken too.

Went for a longer ride to try out the monotubes today. Front a bike a little higher than stock springs maybe 1 1/2 inches. Front is much more firm and the bike feels a lot more nimble.

Well I had 3 problems from the factory with this bike. Left AND right lower triple tree fork clamp bolts broken and no copper washer on the left hand fork slider fastening bolt. Instead silicone to keep it sealed. So, damyn Harley.

Harley has had some wobbles, And it was the cinch bolts not being torqued down correctly.

Put monotubes on my scoot & the difference was night & day. Went with 2 spacers on each tube but later went with 1 per tube to soften up. No bottoming & the wheel stays planted in corners & dips. Used the AMSOIL 5 wt. With the pro rear shocks installed & it was total friken bliss to ride.
    Enjoy:woot:

I totally don't remember which weight we put in mine.

Buddy down the street has done about 3-4 bikes with monotubes.
I helped in on like 2 or 3 of them.

I really like them. And I do not miss the air shocks I had on the rear of the bike either.
