That was a great looking pan.Very much like what I am doing with this shovel,I love the look of that style.I have kind of put the project on hold for the summer I have other things I have to do like new windows in the house and insulate the garage so I can work on the bike next winter. Viking

Good plan, Viking. A warm place to work on the scooter in winter is a big +. I put a woodburner in my little shop.

someone came in yesterday and saw my shovel made me an offer that is real hard to refuse and he wants it the way it is (unfinished) just what I have done so far.If I finish it I will put more money into it than I will make on the finished project. Here is the problem,it is not just about the money of course I can uses the money but I really like the bike. The plus side is maybe I could find that pan project I have always wanted to do. I really don't know what I am going to do . He wants to come back and see it again but he cannot come until next week so that will give me time to decide.

I'd keep it if it was me - unless a panhead came my way between now and next week. Either way - hope it works out for you . . .

If you really want a panhead and you can make a good profit now on the shovel, Hmmm, can't go wrong by putting $$ in your pocket for what you'd rather have. JMO

I just hate to start something and not finish it.If I could have takin it for a ride first and then sold it it would not be so bad.Anyway I don't have it up for sale so lets see if he will even come back.If not I will stop showing it to people so I won't be tempted . ha ha.

Not me. I don't collect em.
I would git as much money for it as I could and git me a newer bike.

I have a newer bike. I ride an 08 streetglide that I bought brand new and I love it but it just is'nt the same. You see I grew up with shovles and I miss the tinkering that is why I bought the 76 in the first place. There is a certin sence of pride that comes with taking something that has been given up on and bringing it back or making it better. For me anyway.

Great that you love old bikes.
I lived and rode the old bikes. I remember everything about how they was slow and vibrated a lot and shook. And flexed a lot in the curves.
The Old bikes were built for leaded gas. That is what they run best on.
I bought several bikes since the shovelhead days.
The 11 I have now I like best of all. No choke. no drum brakes. No cable throttle. Better frame, better brakes, dual disc. No choke , fuel injected.
Ride longer doing less. More gears in the tranny. Better interstate speeds.
Rides smoother. More Horsepower. Better breathing heads. Fuel injected.
Push button start. "No Chokes". Better Oil pumps. Better charging systems
Bigger gas tanks. Belt drive rear wheel instead of chains. Wider back tires.
    Self adjusting primary chain.
Brighter headlight and tail light. Aluminum wheels.
Better tires. Stereo radio's, CD, weather and all. Clock, Pressure gauges stock on the touring bike. Fairings. Better and bigger tourpacks.
Oil coolers. Stronger frames. EZ pull cluch's. Heated grips. Hands free fobs for alarms.

Should I stop now or continue

Sorry man I'm ruined with the new bikes. I can't go backwards.
Be like going out with a EX Wife.:gah:

You are right the new bikes are bigger better faster and that is why I bought one I can not say I don't like it I am not 20 anymore and I can ride this one all day without hurting all the next day. But it is just hard to let go of the past and say its gone forever.Without those old bikes and all the problems we used to have they never would have got to where we are today.I guess what I am saying is I still have repect for these old machines and the people that rode them.
