I'm thinking of carrying a small crescent wrench and a 4 in 1 screwdriver until I get the toolbox.

I can see duct tape but why on earth would I need zip ties? Anyhow, no room in my pocketses for those items.

You would be suprised how handy a small bundle of medium sized zip ties can be in a bad situation. And a small bit of wire. And a pair of vise grips. And a quart of oil. And a jug of gas...;)

As is normal for my threads, I like to wander off the reservation at times, but this will still be bike related. Well, we bought a new washing machine over the weekend and the delivery guys will be bringing it here this afternoon. I told my wife I would be riding this afternoon and that my mother-in-law will be ok by herself in the house. Well, they both went off on me this morning with remarks like: "You can't give up one day of riding to be here?" I gently reminded my dear wife there haven't been many riding days lately because of the rain. And: "You're going to let strange men into our house with your 85 year-old mother-in-law?" Stuff like that. I didn't think it was such a big deal - those guys are bonded and insured and besides that, they can let themselves in, install the washer and let themselves out. They won't have to see anybody. And they will only be going in one room of the house. Plus, Radar will be in the next room over selling woof tickets.

After taking a nice little ride this morning, I relented, and so will be stuck here all afternoon. The delivery guys say they will be here sometime between noon and five. Noon and five? Could y'all be a little more specific, please? Nope. Crap.

    If momma ain't happy
    nobody is happy,

I won't let delivery people show up
at the house with the wife alone, too
many crazy people out there and
some of the guys on delivery trucks are
not the most trustworthy not all, but
you have to be careful about who you let
in and what you let them see.

I suppose. They called and said they'd be here in a half hour (about 1 o'clock). After they leave I'm going out for a ride and something to eat.

The only thing these guys (or guy) will see is both sides of the carport door. The washer is 3 or 4 feet away, nothing to see but a dryer, shitter and sink. If I weren't here, Radar would be on the other side of a locked door and I know he wouldn't let anybody through it. But I'll be here, so it's a moot point.

Yup. Just got back. Got hit by a couple of raindrops but that was all. Tomorrow is payday and I'm ordering the teardrop tool box and bracket. I think it will look cool and blend right in. Also getting a zippered bag that goes inside the box as it is waterproof. Only downside is that J&P says it could take 2 to 3 weeks to get the tool box.

In the meantime I am riding with a pair of 6" vise grips, 4-in-1 screwdriver, a pocket knife and a few zip ties in my vest.

Know what you mean. Only parts I will be carrying will be an extra set of points, a couple of fuses, a short piece of electrical wire & tape, and a spare rear light bulb. Oh, and some zip ties LOL. All that stuff can fit in the palm of my hand.

I'm glad I live where I live at least we don't have to worry about that problem.

I remember the Honda Goldwing riders we know would say that they would follow behind with a bucket to pickup all the parts that would fall off. The teasing got to be relentless so much that we stopped seeing most of them and simple made new friends and now you can see a bit of jealousy in there eyes. As a matter of fact I ran into a few of them at a gas stop and they said wow that's a nice bike. Their 1800 Goldwings are now made in Japland.

So true. I ride ocasionally with aGW rider and he is non stop incessantly yaking that same spew. Finally one day I asked him if it dawned on him that that rap gets old? In fact other people we ride with are getting annoyed, including me. A couple days later he complimented a new HD purchase/owner on what a nice bike. That was nice of him. I guess he thought we thought the was expected and funny.....no iits not.
