Stopped at the Smoking HD dealer today in Greedboro. Their T-shirt on the back is a couple of colt 45 old west revolvers crossed over each other with smoking barrels, pretty cool looking.

We rode up 89 to the entrance to the Parkway were 52 and 89 come together at a place called Fancygap. There are areas all along in the parkway that have creative names but all end in gap like Cumberland Gap. The parkway is pretty cool and has pullouts all up and down the parkway. We went up to about 6000 feet and that's where the thunder storm hit us. High winds and buckets of rain. We made it to Ashville and that is were we are at tonight. Riding up into Tenn tomorrow and hooking up onto I-70 the into Kansas and into Colorado. Want to avoid Denver but would like to do some sight seeing there. Here are a few pics from today.

Headed west on I-70 when you get to Limon, Colorado take Hwy 24 west and you will bypass Denver and come through Colorado Springs and straight into the mountains. Right past where I live and about 100 miles west right past Alex the Dog. From there just stay on hwy 24 and it'll take you back to I-70. Hwy 24 makes a sharp left on the north side of Leadville, if you miss it you get headed east again.
If you come thru the Springs give me a shout.

In Missouri just 20 miles East of Kansas City.
Stayed at a KOA on Kentucky Lake last night. Full of catfish Chuck. One heck of a lake, it's simply huge. Goes for many, many miles. Looks like I won't make Colorado until Friday.
Riding through St Louis MO in T-shirt with no coat and rounded the corner on the Interstate and wam go hit by gusher rain storm. Didn't stop, got soaked and after it hit us about 1/2 hour later we were dry.

Wished I would have known to tell you. I think the other two I'm with are only going to ride about 440 miles today and look for a KOA just before Colorado.

Let me know if you're coming through Colorado Springs and want to hook up, lunch maybe or a late breakfast? Goodland, Kansas is about 3 hours from here. You got my number. I'm close to the Harley Dealer. Just down the street and around the corner.

What ya missed at Pattis Settlement in LBL (Land tween da Lakes)

    Patti's House Specialty
    2" PORK CHOP

Charbroiled pork chop, seasoned as only Patti's can, grilled over an open flame; our house specialty and a meaty must for most.

    Old Fashioned Butter Crumb Apple

A careful mixture of sliced apples, brown sugar and cinnamon baked in a flakey pie shell and finished with a butter crumb topping "drizzled" with caramel. Great when heated with American Cheese or a la mode.

Just got back from lunch with FLHT and the boys, good guys each of them. Good lunch then we went to Pikes Peak H-D and they looked at the motorcycle museum and got to meet the owner of the store. Guided them on a short cut past Garden of the Gods to Ute Pass, rode a few miles with them and then had to turn around, be safe guys. They have the pictures. Come back anytime and stay longer.
