I've heard a lot of folks say they like the Road Glide better for the heavy winds we get here all the time in Colorado.

At Thunder in the Rockies last year I test rode an Ultra and a RG, and I liked the RG tons more. The Ultra had lowers and a huge windshield, and I felt too closed in. I didn't feel like I was on a motorcycle. I was much happier with the Road Glide, although I'd have to put ape hangers on it.

Personally, I've had my windshield on my bike twice in the last two years, once in a hailstorm and a few months ago when it was in the twenties. I'm now at 127,000 miles on the bike, and I've never lived south of Denver, so you can't say I'm a fair weather rider. However, I did finally cave in after a fellow instructor gave me an old man cone picker-upper so I don't have to bend over to pick up cones, and I love it. Who knows, a bagger may be next. Maybe in 10 years when I turn 60. :D;)

My buddy down the street got the Road Glide Ultra.
Tourpac and hard lowers. He has not taken the lowers off. And this is the 1st set he's ever had........
If he tried to take the tourpac off his girlfriend would kick his butt.
And he would loose the rear speakers and headset.

Road Glide is a nice bike.
The front end on the RG stickin out farther helps make it heavier, and the bike dips down more and you feel the weight when you hit the front brakes.

1st thing my buddy had to do was change his handle bars.

The RG's I rode make me git hand cramps from the angle of the bars.

FXRT and Tour Glides weren't big sellers, because people wanted form over function ..... Road Glides aren't as popular as the Electra Glides for the same reason, but more people are buying them for the better handling .... When I get old enough for a full blown Geezer Glide .... it'll probably be a Road Glide

JohnnyBiker throws his Road Glide around with absolutely no problem, even with the wife on back, and contribute a lot of that to the frame mounted fairing.

I've heard the same thing from other guys who used to own them. But you have never spent time on a bike with a batwing. Those who ride either one say the one they ride is their favorite, me I would never own anything else but a Batwing.

I prefer the look and feel of a large batwing.
But that's just my opinion, to each his own.
