Wasn't just Americans in the D-Day campaign...I think some Canadians & Brits helped with that too....;)

Yep the Canadians were great. The Brits were a bit arrogant, especially Monty.

I remember once we were on R&R in Hong Kong from Vietnam and in a club that was full of Brit women and guys. I went over and asked a good looking blond Brit girl to dance and she said I wouldn't lower myself and dance with an American. We got together with some Aussie sailors and started drinking with them. Great guys and then we went out looking for Brit sailors. The Aussie sailors wanted to kick their assess and did so to a couple. Great fun when your young.

Was traveling thru Que. a few years ago, not fluent in both languages but I can get by OK with my level of French. Stopped at a restaurant for breakfast, ordered, ate, and paid for my food and asked where the restrooms were located. French lady behind the counter told her co worker, in French, not to tell me where it was as I'd asked in English. What a place.
Now, don't confuse Quebecers with Acadians. Acadians speak french, live in N.B, P.E.I., and N.S., can usually get by fine in english, and usually would give you the shirts off their backs to make you happy. So check the license plate before you give the one finger salute, please!

Both true however had the French not joined the colonial forces the British would have mopped up the colonies and you'd have a Queen for a ruler vs a President.

We along with men from several countries, Canada, Russia, Australia etc helped the French, English, and others out from under the control of Germany twice, yes, pretty strong statement to say it was the US that lifted France from control alone., we didn't.

Always figured him for a frog. That's why he hides from us Americans.

Were the French also not supportive of the Confederacy in your Civil War?

Yes with limited supplies, but the northern blockades kept most of the French supplies from landing. The French wanted body deodorants in exchange by the way.

We developed a code here in Maine; F.F.C. Last two initials stand for French Canadians. Working on a T-Shirt idea. Same initials and a Canadian Goose being strangled. Unless there's a better idea out there.
