If you look at the service manual for twin cams it states to use 60 weight at temps above 90f well thats most of the summer here.

yep and I think it also shows that 20-50 is ok as well.

Remember that's sustained operating temps at that number.

Twin cams have better oiling pump and circulation than Evos and the old shovels.

Yes, the conversion is too expensive. I would only do it if building or rebuilding a whole motor.
It's always hot down here, usually always in the 80's.
I don't start my bike when it's cold out. I don't like to ride in the cold.

JB has been looking but still, he rides a Sportster. Hmmm why, I don't know? :gah:

Remember it's all about getting the lube to the right spots
before you start everything pumping, if it's not properly
lubed she's gonna give you fits and tell ya to get off,
so make sure it's ready before you jump on it and ride....

Are .560 lobes good enought for ya?
Is a .560 lift cam considered radical for a shovelhead?
Will is cause problems for me?
Should I stay with a .514 lift cam?

I installed the new cam and now the gearcase is chattering fairly loud. It sounds like a diesel engine.
Can I have the gear swapped out from the old cam to the new cam or do I need to swap out the pinion gear to a larger one?

Yep...press your old cam gear on the new cam...you have to make sure that the alignment for the gear is bang on though so you don't alter the cam timing....not difficult...

Thanks, Luci, which do you suggest I do, take the 2 cams to an indy cycle shop to do the swap for me or take them to a machine shop instead?

How, exactly, do I align the gear perfecly on the new cam? Is there a keyway?
