Don't you think its better to be where you're wanting to go then traveling in all this proposed sketchy weather? I believe "Sandy" is suppose to be heading inland Tuesday or maybe that was up here, I forget? Be safe.

Been raining all night and will continue throughout the day. Not much wind - gusts to 40MPH. I think you boys up north are gonna catch it, though . . .

I'm ready. And I have home owners insurance:) And a generator. And a tractor with a bucket loader. Snow blower. I live on a hill.

Its still a PITA just the same.

The current track doesn't show Sandy impacting your area too much - hope you'll be okay just the same . . .

    I hope your right.

I don't want to not prepare, you never know. However I don't want to over prepare either because its alot of freaken work and like I said...a PITA. So I've got every thing in the ready position. Not filling the generator with gas(9 gallons) because I have to drain it for storage but I am having 10 gallons of gas on stand by and bringing the generator from the barn into the garage next to the house.

Wind is always our main concern here to. We don't get Hurricanes but do get some major wind storms during the winter. We have 200 foot tall trees in our yard and all around us. They have been known to come down and cut a house in half. They always knock down power lines to. Do you have a generator and drinking water for emergency use?

Back on the island. Left the kids up to their own. Good ol Honda generator started first pull. Can't beat them honda engines. Things are looking grim here. NYC is mandatory evacuations. All of mass transit shuts down at 7pm. Insurance comps called and said that LhunGisland are already considered a disaster zone. Power comp called and said expect no power for 7-10 days. Glad I live up the hill from the village. Last year during Irene we had 2 feet of water from the harbor in the village. This storm they expect over 5! Got to get the chain gun warmed up for the people running up to MY high ground! The real disaster is tomorrow when my in-laws show up to say for the storm. Seems they think their house will flood (BS). Charlie, I may show up at yer door tomorrow!

Christie just gave evacuation orders along the coast and said we will not rescue if you decide to ignore the order...
