That bitch is here...Just some rain and a few wind gusts at this time where we are...Just saw some pictures of Battery Park which is on the lower end of NYC and the park benches are covered up to their seats and this thing just begun...Put a 9 foot storm surge, high winds and high tide on top of that and you have a disaster that will happen...On top of that the bottom of the Hudson is shaped like a funnel so as the surge moves up river it will get worse...Gona be a fun two days...

They were probably trying to move it out of the direct path of the storm to a safer harbor. Think they started to late. What a shame as that was a beautiful ship. Heard that the two who were swept overboard had some type of survival suit on. I've been on a small ship in some pretty bad Typhoones with high seas and will tell you it's dang scary.

I can't see where open ocean on a
sailing ship with a hurricane is smart.

40 foot waves, open wood ship..

Not bright....if it was in a harbor,

    Shame too..

well they only had a complete two weeks of warning.

they know the time it takes to move that ship X miles.

Plenty of safe harbor between Flaridaer and Noo Yawk...

Our downtown had to be evacuated. The water is higher than historical records and it isn't even bad yet. tonight comes the worst tide. Glad I'm on the hill.

The biggest tree in my yard just came down and totally crushed my truck. Thank God it missed the house. [IMG]

We have lost 8 trees so far. Truck totaled, huge tree in pool, many sections of fence crushed, wife a basket case. Sandy sucks. It's getting worse too.
