Over the weekend the weather idiots were predicting sunny and in the 50's and low 60's this week. I was going to breakin the shocks. Well it's effin snowing! 1/2" so far. They love to get your hopes up. They suck.

Post how they feel when you get a chance to try em. Getting back on my feet moneywise after Florida trip, and I would like to upgrade my suspension also this year on the Sportster once the paycheques get back to normal.

On my 2001 Heritmage Springer I need to change the rear shocks. They fit under the bike and right now I have them adjusted all the way out and are pretty worn out. Been thinking of putting in the Progressive shocks.

As for tools have a friend and Fatboy you meant him in AZ that has some really strong arms. When he and I were working on Trikes together I can't tell you how many broke bolts or studs we had to reverse drill. I told him you are one guy who definitely needs to use a torque wrench. He makes me laugh and we had a lot of fun working together but always told him use a torque wrench please. I'll never forget yep feels like 20 pounds of torque, snap.

With These old arms I don't have to worry about that. And working on the bolts between to floor and bike doesn't give much room for leverage either. I had to smack the 3/4" box wrench with a rubber mallet a few times to loosen the bolts on the swing arm end of shocks.
The snow finally stopped at 5". Plows and salt spreaders out. Now I have sand and salt to deal with again.

That's what's nice about my drive up lift I can't even imagine working on most areas of the bike without using it.
Sure hope you move out of that socialist state to the land of the free, plus that will give me another reason to ride down to AZ. :D

Yep you need to get the bike up on a lift to do those shocks or
    it's a tight fit.

Get the progressives for your softail, mine were on for 10 years
and were great, massive improvement over stock..

I put progressive 422 's in the Fatboy. Maybe ride it tomorrow if all the white shirt melts.

I've got 1" lowered Progressives on my softail, can't comment on ride quality on a lowered softail except to say... Don't do it!! LOL...They're 19yrs old now so I think it's about time to change them to new standard height shocks

The Progressive 422 soft tail shocks have 2" of height adjust built into them. From stock height to 2" lowered! I'm not going to lower the bike.

Took the bike out finally. Bike rides good and firm. Glad I didn't get the heavy duty shocks.

Ha-ha! Good to hear your test ride was a success. I'm still learning the ins and outs of jockey shifting with a suicide clutch. Lots of fun and I really like the positve feel of the shifter - no linkage or clutch lever adjustments to mess with.
