vented and all is well...;) when i started her oil pressure was about 15 psi. then i found that she was only running on 1 cylinder. long story short...new plugs = she ite. put in old plugs and made a test run of 55 mile. weeeeee... oil pressure pretty much stayed around 10 psi. if the fairing had been on, and if the bugs hadn't been pelting me, and if i had a jacket on...i would still be riding.

Looks like ya got it! But isn't 10 PSI kinda low? Mine likes around 30 to 35.

This is from my Shovel SM....At normal operating temperature and engine speed of 2000 RPM, oil pressure should be between 12-35 PSI...

might be the gauge, they are not all accurate
you'd need to check it with another to make sure the
    reading is consistent

Very true....used to get a kick outta guys putting inexpensive pressure gauges on their Evo's and Shovels, then freak out when they come to a stop and the gauge reads zero at idle....if you're oil bag is full and the oil is circulating and you don't have any top end clatter,I wouldn't be too concerned about what the gauge says...

had to put a new gauge on since the lens cracked on the old one. 30 psi cold, 8-10 psi hot. got a new idiot sensor and light, so if it gets too low i will know to stop.
had to work today, but managed to get in a quick 50 mile ride down the mountain and back up. she's doing great...with the exception of an intake leak. i didn't like the seal of the o-rings, figured they were gonna leak. putting the bands on as soon as i get the clamps. also want to get my buddy to fine tune the super E.
now i have to get the fairing and trunk on...OL says her neck hurts from wind pressure. she tried to hide behind my head, and got popped in the sniffer.

So you rode without the fairing. Cool. Hope your wife's nose didn't get hurt too bad. Oil pressure will be very low at idle - I don't rev mine when stopped - motor will run cooler that way. If no excessive noise in the top end when sitting still you should be fine.

Some shovel owners run 2 larger oil lines to the rocker boxes from the crank case - one line for each - to replace the stock oil lines. Tattoo's is set up this way, but then, he has a 93" motor, too.

    That's why I don't use one.
The oil pressure light off the pump is good enough.

I don't use a gauge or a light . . . I just keep looking down anxiously as I ride to see if there are any leaks:roflmao:

250 miles on her now, halfway to oil change.

i have a faint oil mist on my timing case, wondering if its from the oil on my carb filter.

I'm thinking the same thing. Too much oil on the filter will make it run rich, too.

i was wonderin if the manifold leak was causing it to blow back on decel.

think i told you all about my fouled plugs. put old ones in and all was good. starting to get a miss at low rpm now. am going to pull plugs this am and see.
also seems to be runnin a lil warm....of course its been smokin hot here lately.

My shovel ran hotter when I rode up into Virginia, but the temps were in the upper 90s then.
