Engine and tranny will be done by me. I love engine work.
Just waiting until all the paint is done...weather is the issue, propane is expensive.
I have the machine shop lined up for valve job and jug hone.
I think some chrome shovel covers will dress it up too.
Also dropping the fairing, and going with chrome headlight kit with quick-release
    windshield.

Yeah there is some company out there
that finds the new neat stuff and then copies it
takes it to taiwan and undercuts the designer.

    CB I agree I want a mid 70;s ]with
all the trimmings to restore to AMF Glory...

I don't want drool on my fresh painted bike , I would go fairing & save $380 for some extra chrome , or the fairing box with stereo :D

Well for me it's I like them the way they came
or built period correct, and a lot of these were stripped
    down...

But that's me, it's your bike do to it what you like!

Some guy needing the fairing and tour bag will
    appreciate your selling it..

I was looking at the pics of your frame after painting. Nice job. Don't forget to take a razor blade and scrape the paint off where the motor mounts are. The motor should be "grounded" to the frame. On the front motor mount you can mask off the motor with painter's tape after it's in and touch up the frame around it. That's what I did to mine.
Wouldn't hurt to do the same for the tranny mounts.

fairing stays, wouldn't sell it anyway. still haven't ordered tank emblems.
found some new amf ones for $85...really like the up to "72...no amf.
absolutely right on grounds for engine and tranny...hadn't thought of it...thanks.
paint is progressing well, but no more pics until assembled...maybe.
harness, swingarm rebuild kit and bolt, fender trims and exhaust arrived...yea !

stripped the bags all the way down to the fiberglass. OMG, what a job.
3 primer coats got me a factory smooth surface.
4 coats of color on now, once cured i will wetsand and apply finish coat.
2 coats of clear to top it off. they look great now...can hardly wait.
i should have the fairing done by next weekend. the trunk may wait till spring.
woman has been working nights lately, so i have been on it until 8 & 9 pm.
question...i have 16" cast 16 spoke wheels. any idea what a chrome job
should cost ? i think that would really make it "pop".
    more as i progress.
    thanks

good chrome will cost some bucks
browns plating in KY is one of the best
in the USA but they are not cheap, you might
find some chrome exchange on the web...

Looks like you have a lot of work ahead of you. I ran the Paucho Drag Pipes on my Shovel and have had good look with them. I also installed an "eye" bolt about 4" from the end of the pipe to give it a little back pressure. Runs better in the midrange with no flat spots. It's been about 15 years since I tore mine down that far, it's due for a makeover again.

It was a long process, getting the nose trim to fit.
Spent 1/2 a day with the dremel tool, but it was worth it.
here are some pics...wet sand done, clear coat done...buff later.

So much difference, i am pleased with the results.
I masked off these parts and painted with them installed,
still some tape residue on edges, will clean that when it gets buffed.
I think i will wait until final assembly to add spears and name tags.

I am going to try and finish the tanks and emblems tomorrow...
    watch for pics.
