Hope you have a trouble free ride. That copper stuff works pretty good. Comes in a rattle can. I've used it on some of my gaskets: oil pump (both sides), gear case cone - no leaks. Will also use it on my rocker box gaskets when I do the top end in a few months. Gasgacinch on both sides of the copper head gaskets though.

Talking to Tattoo today and he says since I'll have it all apart I may as well put in a new set of rings and hone the sleeves. It won't cost much to do that, so I think I'll do it. He has all the stuff and says he'll help me.

Sure does, Cowboy. Tattoo uses the stuff, too. He turned me on to it. The way I use it is to wear a latex glove and hold the gasket so I can spray both sides.

I wouldn't use copper coat on the oil pump gaskets.
Why do you want to to take the jugs off?

Lordy JB you're one of the few guys I know that has to do a rebuild after every season of riding LOL

Heck you are on par to be like a Top Fuel Dragster, 1/4 mile, rebuild the engine.

copper is great, but very tacky. use a long zip tie or wire to hold the gasket...you can do both sides and hank it up to dry. can says it is best for rubber gaskets (ring of fire). once on, i was able to twist and adjust to line up bolt holes. great for high temps too, not so good for paper gaskets. they have it in a can with swabber for those.

All I can say is that I used it on my oil pump gaskets and it's the only thing that HAS worked leak free on them. And yes, I used it on paper gaskets and installed the gaskets while they were still tacky. :)

We MAY take the jugs off to do a ring & hone job. Since the rest of the motor is questionable, Tattoo figures why not. The rebuilder says he did new rings 2200 miles ago but he has half assed other things on the motor, like the problem that's causing the rear cylinder to smoke when I start it up.

So far the tranny is fine. So far.

Changed over to a set of Bosch plugs yesterday that I got from Tattoo. He swears by 'em. He hates Champions which is what I've been using up to now. He says to me, Here's a set of REAL plugs; put 'em in. LOL

Interesting. The cross reference for my year ('77) is Bosch Platinum WR8DC4. Tattoo has a '67 slab side and there is no reference number for Bosch.

He gave me a set of Bosch Superplus WR7DC+. ??

Here's another one...it doesn't list much for Bosch plugs either though....
