3/8" seems kinda thin, no? The bracket on my bike is at least 1/2" and it's steel.

3/8 7075 aluminum is more than enough (same as all PERFORMANCE MACHINE brackets).1/2 aluminum would be too thick (WAY too thick if useing steel)

Yes, 3/8" is plenty thick. My steel boomerang bracket from the 70s is thinner than that.

No, too technical for me! Ha-ha!

Bike is running like never before . . . tomorrow I'm gonna go to da big city (Rocky Mount), about 70 miles round trip. Temps should hit a torrid 60 degrees.

Yup, will do! Bike runs stronger, louder & deeper. Rebuilding those heads made a world of difference, boys. Sounds like a healthy motorpickle now. Tattoo wants to take a ride.

I'm not gonna take today's ride all at once. 15 miles to Tattoo's shop in Tarboro. Let motor cool down. Then the remaining 20 miles to Rocky Mount. Cool down for lunch. Return trip same way. I think the ol' thang will like it better; I know I will!

Short day at school today - no art class, so I get off at 12:30. Got a 4 day weekend coming up (winter break), but the temps will drop considerably after today.

Prodrag, will order the Wilwood caliper today online. Hope all y'all are having a good day today. I'm counting my blessings that I can ride at least a few days each winter month. Better than none, like some of our friends further north . . .
